By lieve from grand rapids, michigan on 07/17/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable Cons: Bulky, Heavy, Poor Fit Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: A dozen times now I've tried on the coat and cannot decide whether or not to keep it. The garment is well-made, but I worry about the buttons, and the tiny zipper is difficult to engage. It's warm enough for late-fall and early-spring use in Michigan (or winter, with heavy sweater under it), but zipping up the collar all the way for cold and windy weather would make the wearer look silly. It gives the appearance of stylishness but it simply hangs on me, like a big bag, with no tailoring at the waist. Sleeves can be turned up if they are too long and still look good, but are longer than necessary and a bit restrictive. Long length is attractive for walking but sitting is awfully tough without unbuttoning and unzippering. I paid "only" [$] for the coat and I know that's supposed to be a bargain, but it doesn't seem that way to me. Writing this evaluation has been a good exercise for me in arriving at a conclusion--I'm returning the coat. My wife and I have been buying from STP "forever," and it's our favorite vendor. We know that some purchases work out and others don't. [...]
By Jon Law from Omaha on 06/23/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Lightweight Best Uses: Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Normally a size 48 fits me like a glove, this coat was small enough that I could barely get the buttons to touch. Beautiful, but no larger size available for me to size up. With regret I had to return the coat.
By esv-arc from Los Angeles on 02/07/2009 Describe Yourself: Trendy/Stylish Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Have a few Aston leather coats so was surprised at how poorly fitting this piece was. Sleeves almost restricting the entire length of the arm.
By Richinohio from Cleveland, OH on 01/23/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Warm Describe Yourself: Trendy/Stylish Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This coat is very distinctive- it has gotten many comments, mostly due to the large fur collar. The color is more dark chocolate than black. Its very warm and materials are high quality. The one issue i've had is that the buttons came off pretty easily, due in part to bearing the load of the coat while seated. You will definately stand out in this coat. Great buy.
A superior shearling coat! By Frequent Buyer in Santa Fe from Santa Fe NM on 12/25/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Good Cut, Warm Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out, Outdoor Activities, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This long shearling coat is a great addition to my wardrobe -- duster length, water resistant finish, low-pile shearling which keeps the bulk down but still ensures great warmth, and an elegant cut and detailing which makes it a dressy and impressive coat, not so casual as many shearling garments. The Merino shearling collar adds an elegant touch, too -- it's a longer and softer fur than ordinary sheep's wool or shearling -- very nice!
Here in Santa Fe on Christmas Eve many of us take a night walk along Canyon Road to view the art galleries' light displays, the crowds walking, the bonfires and luminarias along the streets and properties -- all at around 21 degrees F! This coat wasn't fazed at all, keeping me warm and comfortable the whole walk (not to mention looking well dressed!). Bravo!
