By Merns from Southern Arizona on 02/28/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Good Cut, Versatile, Well Made Best Uses: Daily Use, Outdoor Activities Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought this for Ranch/Farm wear, it keeps you warm and it wears well, working around the ranch. The longer length is very welcome on cold mornings. I cannot say enough good about Carhartt products.

By gtg510g from Richmond, IN on 02/24/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Good Cut, Versatile, Well Made Best Uses: Daily Use, Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This coat is great. I moved to the MidWest from the South and needed a good winter coat. With this coat on, whatever the coat covers is not cold. You end up looking a bit lumber-jill but it's worth it. I will keep this coat forever, and I highly recommend it! I don't notice anything "irregular" about it. Great, roomy pockets. Two inner pockets, one with a zipper. I got an XS because they didn't have any smalls left and it probably runs a bit big since the XS (0-2) fits perfectly.
By chickadee from Kalispell, MT on 02/23/2009 Pros: Durable, Versatile, Well Made Cons: A lot of varation in size Best Uses: Bad Weather, Daily Use Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought a medium to small, ordered a large it was huge, so ordered another medium and it fit perfectly. I guess if you really want this jacket like I did, just keep trying different ones until you find one that fits.
Once you find the one that fits it is a great jacket, warm, durable and it does keep the wind out.
Would have given it 5 stars if it had not been for the fit.
By Hi Desert from CA on 01/22/2009 Pros: Durable, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Daily Use, Outdoor Activities Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Carhartt is the brand for rugged work/ranch activities. This jacket is perfect for cold weather horseback riding. The women's line is cut a little large but I am glad as it allows for layering and I like the extra coverage. Love all the pockets to stash items in and the velcro closures make it easier for retrieval of items while on the horse. A little stiff when new but I believe after a little break-in time, will be perfect.
By Spirit River from S.E. PA on 01/19/2009 Best Uses: Daily Use, Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It's a carhartt, if you've ever owned one you'll understand the stiffness of the material. They are made to be tough, that's why they last so long! I'm sure with wear it will soften some..but it is truly a warm coat, 4 degrees and I was toasty.
Carhartt Sandstone Artic Coat By Horse loving Sally from Missouri on 01/17/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Good Cut, Lightweight, Made for average heighth, Much nicer fit than mens, Versatile, Warm Cons: Little stiff when new Best Uses: Daily Use, Good warm chore coat, Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use this product to do horse chores. It's warm and I have plenty of room as I got it a bit larger and have plenty of room for bulky items beneath. Next size down would probably have worked also. Much better than the men's jacket I used before.
the right coat for what I needed By lucy's mom from upstate ny on 01/14/2009 Pros: Rugged blocks wind, Warm Cons: Takes time to break-in Best Uses: Daily Use, For barn chores Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: this is a rugged garment that can stand up to things that would ruin other warm coats. The material is strong and you do not have to worry about it. I think it looks good in a certain way, although I would not wear it everywhere.
Carhartt Sandstone Arctic Coat By dbc from Boston, MA on 01/13/2009 Best Uses: Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Coat feels stiff until you break it in. I like the zipper design (the zipper opens from the top or bottom). I wish Sierra Trading Post offered the matching hood as well.
By Jenn from NW Arkanasas on 01/07/2009 Best Uses: Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am still trying to break the jacket in so I probably do not fully appreciate what I have yet. The price was unbeatable. It was very stiff when I recieved it and I tried to wash it to loosen it up. That didn't help much. After two days of forcing myself to wear it, it has begun to loosen up and I am liking it much better. It is not the normal style I would have chosen but my husband has the men's version of this jacket and he loves it. His is soft and super warm. My jacket is also very warm (but not soft yet). Overall I think it will be an excellent jacket once I have broken it in.
