I've had them a few months and they haven't faded much at all. I wonder if the cotton is treated or if a blend was used because they just don't seem as absorbant as they should be.

This effect has lasted through several uses/washings, so I think it is inherent in the weave of the cloth and not some strange coating on the material. It is hard to use a kitchen towel that won't absorb water well! But they are pretty.
