I ended up returning it. It was kind of stiff and not as soft as I would like.

Despite being soft, it also gets a bit itchy at first after being next to your skin. I use the scarves (all 3) for everyday use.

scratchier than most alpaca By Lovin' winter from new england on 03/16/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Warm Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I love how alpaca can be so soft, but this scarf is scratchier than alpaca products I have felt and/or purchased. It is very thick, which is good, and is like a felted product, meaning it has a dense fur-like feel. I'm assuming it is a product that was knit and then brushed heavily to get that effect. This is what makes it stiffer than a normal knit scarf. Somebody looking for a fashion statement should be aware that its stiffness prevents it from draping. But, the fur does shed quite a bit, especially in the first wearings. Haven't owned it long enough to see if the shedding stops and if the stiffness relaxes. Overall, I bought this hoping for a very soft scarf, and so am disappointed. It is not so scratchy that I can never wear it, however, just scratchier than hoped.

This scarf (even after washing) is quite itchy.
