By Busy Lawyer Mom from Denver, CO on 10/19/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight Best Uses: Bad Weather, Going Out Describe Yourself: Trendy/Stylish Dresser Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Love the color but it is limited to going with black and white only. A little too glitzy to go with denim. Ditto a little too glitzy for daytime. If you spend a lot of time in the mountains in the winter like I do, it may be a fun vest for evenings out.
Disappointed--2 sizes too big! By College Girl from West Coast on 10/07/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Nice color, Warm Cons: Bulky, Unflattering Shape Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am (by STP's chart) about size 10 in the waist and 12 in the bust. I got the size M (8-10) because I wanted a snugger fit, so I could wear it with just a light sweater underneath. Unfortunately, the 8-10 honestly fit like about a 14. I returned for a S and it fits better, especially in the bust, but it's certainly not sleek and fitted through the waist like I would like. Cinching in the waist just made it look super-puffy everywhere but the thin strip that is actually pulled in by the cord. Like tying a string around a marshmallow. Not too attractive.
Also, the hand pockets are pretty small and awkwardly placed, but it doesn't bother me much.
I think I'll keep the S, but I'm keeping the tags on, just in case. If I do end up keeping it, I'll certainly have to wear heavier layers than I'd wanted underneath it to make it fit.
On the plus side, the color is cool, and the pretty lining is a nice bonus. If it came in XS, this would be a 5-star review.
Rich color, versatile fun vest By Lucy's Mom from Rochester, NY on 09/21/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut, Lightweight, Versatile, Warm, Well Made Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out, Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I like this vest because the color is so rich and unusual. The weight is not heavy, but perfect for layering under a parka or casual wool coat. The overall quality is good and the cut flattering. I found it to run on the large side and had to exchange my original purchase for the next size down. I have also removed the hood because the fur is not the same level of quality as the rest of the garment. This is a fun winter item.
Agree with all the 5 star ratings By Linda from Ohio on 08/17/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut, Lightweight, Well Made Best Uses: Going Out, Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Trendy/Stylish Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: More blue than purple (as purple is THE color this fall - wish it was purple) but still beautiful - nice that you can combine casual with dress up. perfect for those in between occasions.
Great for dressing up during the winter By skicat from seattle on 06/19/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Going Out, Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Love to wear when I dress up and go out during the winter months. Stunning color.
By sp from SoCal on 01/20/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Good Cut, Lightweight, Versatile, Well Made Best Uses: Outdoor Activities Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: From the other reviews I expected this vest to be possibly too flashy for me but not so! The fabric is satiny and the color is dark enough to keep it from being too loud. It is lightweight, comfortable and stylish.
Love, love, love it!! Pretty and warm. By Mrs. Purple from Warren, Ohio on 01/20/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut, Lightweight, Versatile, Well Made Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out, Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This winter has been incredibly cold and this vest is amazing in its ability to keep me warm. The color is so much more beautiful than pictured. The hood is perfect. Overall, the vest is perfect.
By manic minx from San Diego, CA on 12/29/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Good Cut, Versatile Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out, Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Trendy/Stylish Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love this color - it is a wonderful sapphire blue color with purple undertones. My only complaint is that it runs a bit large. I normally wear a large or size 12 up top and bought the L. The sizing would be great if I wore a bulky sweater, but I think with this style I probably wouldn't. I am considering getting the medium for a more fitted look.
Style, Warmth, Fashion - It's All There By JS from Livermore, CA on 12/06/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Good Cut, Lightweight, Versatile Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love this vest. The color shimmers in beautiful blue/purple tones. The lining is a classy pattern and the construction is superb. The hood zips off, but is great in the rain or cold weather. There is an internal cord at the waist that can be tightened if you desire a closer fit. The pockets zip closed for security. While this vest would be great on the slopes, I've been wearing it for daily use as well as nicer casual occasions. I found that I liked this vest so much that I came back and ordered another one for my sister for Christmas.
Don't think you won't be noticed! By stp shoe addict from ol' virginny on 11/11/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Good Cut, Lightweight, Well Made Best Uses: Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Trendy/Stylish Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Beautiful garment, more suited to a real skier than your average cold person who may desire the addition of sleeves. I was worried that the fabric would be like that tacky taffeta-like material that came out in the 90's, the kind that is two colors at once, but thankfully it's up-to-date and very high quality, shimmery like silk yet durable. Although not exactly understated, the purple is almost cobalt blue and fairly versatile if you like to wear unusual colors. I love the furry hood- purple velvety fur inside and purple fluffy trim. Nice silky lining with a funky geometric print. I am petite but ample-chested and the small seemed a little too big. Remember: you can order two different sizes and send one back.
