It's warm yet leaves plenty of room for movement - not at all restrictive. Be aware that while this vest is comfortable, it's a stiffer fabric than most. So it doesn't make the best house vest, as it buckles under my chin somewhat when sitting down. Perfect for my outside chores. I love it.

These are a little tight across the chest when zipped, so I have two: a large that I can wear warm layers and hooded carhartt sweatshirt under and still move my arms and a medium for a more fitted look with long or short sleeve tee underneath.
Found no obvious flaws in these "2nds". STP is best source for reasonable $$ carhartt.

Zipper is of heavy quality. I haven't used it in the cold weather yet but I am sure it is warm and functional just wish it wasn't so darn heavy.
