It's very soft on the outside and is warm enough for most winter days, but wouldn't be great on really cold days. It buttons up fairly tightly, so it's hard to wear with a bulky sweater. I bought a size 12 after trying the 10, so you might buy one size larger. I get compliments on the coat every time I wear it.

The description advised to order one size up, which I did. I advise ordering 2 sizes up. Otherwise, it is a good jacket to wear to work or wear as an overcoat on a cool day.
