Hydration pack does not work!
By Jenn from San Pedro, Ca on 02/27/2009

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I was planning to use this product for day hikes with my boyfriend (i bought one for me and one for him. While the pack itself is neat, a little small for a taller person like myself, but the water hydration system does not work. There must be a leak or something in the system b/c when you suck on it only air comes out.

Rides High on the Back
By littlefrankVerified Reviewer from Puget Sound on 01/16/2009
Cons:
Made for child or midget
Describe Yourself:
Casual Adventurer
What Is Your Gear Style:
Comfort Driven
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
This back pack rests high on the back and appears to be made for a child or a midget. There is no way to adjust it to sit lower and the waist band ends up around your stomach. Instructions might help but there are none. As well, instructions or a description might help in identifying what the features are for. Example: there is some sort of rain fly or hood sewn into a pocket on the bottom. I assume I have to rip it out to use it. I have no idea what it is for or if I should tear the stitching out to use it.

Great value but didn't work for me
By SATVerified Reviewer from CA on 06/30/2008
Pros:
Comfortable, Highly Adjustable, Large Capacity, Many zip compartments
Cons:
Leaky Valve, Too tall
Best Uses:
Extended Hikes, Travel
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
What Is Your Gear Style:
Comfort Driven
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
This pack is nicely padded and fits my bike commuting stuff, but it's just a hair too tall for me - the back of my helmet clunks into it and it slightly constrains my head from turning to check traffic. I am sticking with my REI Bookpacker Plus or the large REI Alpine 35 Plus. I bought the Backflo for the hydration insert baggie, which is the same size as the Camelback classic. But, as another reviewer said, the mouthpiece does drip, even when closed. Replacing it would probably fix this. If I was taller, I would keep this pack. It's got enough going for it!

Comments:
Did not mention the built in Rain fly, or the removable "pocket" that clips inside. Should mention it is top loading only large main compartment and zip up hydration pocket in main compartment

I bought this to take on my bike when I commute to work, the first day I had it the mouth piece leaked all over me. I had to go to a outdoor recreational store to buy a different hydrolock. Other than that the cargo space is good and it is comfortable. I would definitely get a spare hydrolock.

Like everything, has ups and downs.
By mhfm from Carlsbad, CA on 06/07/2008
Pros:
Comfortable, Easy To Refill, Large Capacity, Stable
Cons:
Leaky Valve, Poor Construction
Best Uses:
Bicycle touring
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
The straw was of a poor design so I replaced it with a Camelback straw although the bladder was fine. Straps are of a poor quality and don't hold their adjustment. Otherwise, the pack itself was comfortable and well designed as well as being very roomy.

Comments:
I use this pack when I ride my bicycle to work and back home. It rained on me one day and I had a chance to use the the rain cover. It pulled out easily, fit perfect and kept everything dry. I store my clothes (jeans,t-shirt,long sleeve shirt, socks & underwear) as well as my coffee mug and lunch in the main compartment when I commute. There are 2 mesh side pockets, two small zipper pockets, & one medium sized zipper pocket that come in handy as well. The pack is light weight and has great padded shoulder straps and backside. It also has a sturdy frame that makes it a rugged pack. The valve on the hydration bladder is a bite down valve and can easily be replaced with an open/closed valve. The bladder itself is made of a thin material, and has it's own compartment that can be zippered up/down and/or removed. I hope this pack is long lasting, that it yet to be determined, for I've only had it 1 week since writing this.
