I bought a couple of these for my parts bin, I have never had a stem break so I can't imagine these will.

The only problem is that the stem is only available in very limited (read...long!) extension length. So bite the bullet...you know that you should be riding in a more stretched out position anyway! So get rid of that ugly, heavy, no name stem that came on your mountain bike and get a real part and make people think you know what you are doing.
