By climber and skier from mid-atlantic on 11/03/2009 Cons: Must stretch it a bit Best Uses: Under ice or ski helmet Describe Yourself: Advanced Gear Usage: Ice Climbing, Skiing Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: For the price, this isn't half bad. The seam does go down the front, but it actually doesn't bother me. I have a big head, so I must stretch it a bit, but that's easy. And you can just toss this in the wash w/o worry. I think this is best for when you want face protection, but don't want to be too terribly warm about it (i.e., you're exerting yourself, and don't want windburn).
By Morning Mom from New Haven, CT on 10/28/2009 Pros: Breathable, Good Fit, Good Protection, Warm Best Uses: Walks on frosty mornings Describe Yourself: Getting Started Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have only had the chance to use it once so far. I don't like the cold, and discomfort + exercise = no exercise. So I completed my morning walk happy and warm. I am wondering if I will need to pick up a heavier one as CT winter approaches.
By Whitewash from North Idaho on 10/27/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Good Fit, Good Protection, Warm Best Uses: Backcountry, Cross Country, Downhill Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Looks great (for a balaclava). Definitely warm and soft. Haven't gotten a chance to put it to good use yet, but I suspect it will live up to its "expedition" weight.
One reviewer mentioned they didn't like how the seam rested on the nose...the only thing I can guess is that they were wearing it upside-down or didn't realize that it can either rest on the nose or be pulled down under the chin.
By Mt Kili Girl from hartford, ct on 09/12/2009 Describe Yourself: Advanced Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The seam sits on your nose & lips. I find it very uncomfortable.

It is lightweight and breathable, but very warm. You barely feel it under your helmet but it makes a world of difference in warmth. I would highly recommend it, and at a great price!
