I bought this to wear while riding my motorycle. I commute 60 miles per day and bought this for those Florida mornings in the 30s-50s. Fit is OK--about as good as a one-size fits all can fit. It fits under my full-faced helmet, only making it a little tighter; the tightness under a helmet might be an issue in longer rides (perhaps 90+ minutes). The neck is long enough in front and back to tuck under my jacket. I wouldn't call this wind-proof, but it makes a huge difference. I no longer feel like I'm getting frostbite when I combine low temps with 70mph winds.

We have an American Eskimo 4 year old that needs daily walks and when the wind is whipping and the temps drop, this is the perfect extra layer of protection for my wife and I. Plan also on using it for downhill skiing.

for the price this is a great buy, probably not the highest quality balaclava ever made, but it's superlight, easy to pack in case the conditions require protection for the face, it gets the job done

My husband and I walk from 2-3 miles per day on average and bought these to help keep our face warm in the 20's/30's temps. They work wonderfully. If you get warm, you can slip the front face part down around the chin. The winds kick in, and pull it back up and you are toasty. Ears stay warm too. They fold up easily and are compact to fit in a pocket. Very pleased.

thin and lightweight
By one4outdoorfunVerified Reviewer from central KY on 12/12/2008
Pros:
Dries Easily, Fits under hat or helmet, Good Fit
Cons:
Seam - center of forehead
Best Uses:
Downhill, Winter bass fishing
Describe Yourself:
Advanced
Gear Usage:
Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports
Sizing:
Feels true to size
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
NOT sure how this will do over time, it is THIN and it does break the wind, it has an annoying but soft seam in the midline... forehead over dorsum and down. Edges are soft, have only used for late night cold KY rainy and windy/icy evening fence checks and barn work... Has helped. MIGHT be tight if your hat size is bigger than a 7.5 or 8. Bought a spare to keep at the farm for rookies that come to play!!! It takes up minimal space/thickness and fits easily under helmets/caps/hats.
