Anything you do with your fingers requires the thumb.
By Nanook from St. Paul, MN on 01/12/2009 Describe Yourself: Advanced Gear Usage: Shooting glove Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: OK for cheap price. Would have been disappointed if I paid retail. Doesn't seem to be very good quality.

By White Shugah from Seattle, WA on 01/03/2009 Pros: Snug Fit, Warm, Water Resistant, Windproof Cons: Poor Grip, Too Bulky Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Is great in every aspect, except that there is no hole for the thumb and, although it fits quite snug, the glove feels almost too large for the hand. However, it is a great bargain as a pop top mitten
By Chris from Upstate New York on 11/07/2008 Pros: Snug Fit, Warm, Windproof Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The first pair I received actually had a broken seam. However, the speed in exchanging them made up for that.
Great compromise betwn gloves & mittens! By Ludeykrus from North Georgia on 08/01/2008 Pros: Dries Easily, Snug Fit, Warm, Water Resistant Cons: Lacks convertible thumb Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear Describe Yourself: Advanced Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is an excellent product following an excellent concept. The convertible mitten allows one to have a pair of Thinsulated wool mittens (which are weatherproof and help keep warm even when wet, unlike cotton) while allowing you to flip the top to expose your fingers for more fine work. The only problem I've really had is that they wear a bit due to having to twist/turn things, like bolts. This involves using the thumb, which is not convertible. Spectacular, otherwise.

Con: Velcro fasteners could be sewn own better.
