They weren't suitable for those uses, but certainly would be for outdoor sports.

clever design but not warm enough By dogwalker from Smoky Mountains on 12/25/2008 Best Uses: Working Outdoors Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered these to replace ski gloves that started to break down after 8 years. I was looking for gloves that would keep my fingers warm on frigid dog walks. These gloves are cleverly designed (each has a tiny storage pouch on the back, toggle closure at the wrist, knit cuffs) and have good flexibility in the fingers). Water beads up on them. But they aren't as warm as I hoped, so I will be wearing liners inside them. Can't comment on durability as they are too new.
They are a gift. Haven't used them. By giver from Oregon on 11/27/2008 Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are a gift, so I haven't used them. They seem warm enough, but are plenty bulky.
