I ordered a size too large By bluejayamy from Fort Washington PA on 01/22/2009 Pros: Comfortable, High Quality, Keeps me warm Cons: Overall too big for me Best Uses: Perfect for the barn, Wear To Work Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These overalls are perfect to throw on over my street clothes when I need to run up to the barn and clean a stall or work with the horses.
By msanders from Reinbeck, IA on 01/20/2009 Pros: Comfortable, High Quality Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wear these bibs for doing horse chores and carrying wood in the winter. They are comfortable and warm, and as much of a fashion statement as work bibs can be. After reading many reviews, I ordered a size smaller than my regular pants and a 28" inseam. I'm 5'4, so they do run large and very long, but adjusting to that, I ended up with a great fit. The straps are hard to adjust, but doable. Thanks for a great pair of bibs at a great price!
By spirit river from S.E. PA on 01/19/2009 Best Uses: Special Occasions Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am so glad Carhartt makes coats and overalls for women. I have purchased MENS in the past but way to big and too long to fit me. I am a hunter and these were nice and warm sitting in the goose blind. Rugged quality and not too stiff material, I hope to have these for a long time. Thanks Carhartt!!

saved by my carhartt overalls!! By Funny farmer from NE Pennsylvania on 01/19/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy to put on, Good tough material, Great Color, Haven't washed yet, High Quality, Leg zippers a big plus, Really Warm Cons: Material 'stiff', Need a shorter leg option, Straps hard to adjust Best Uses: Any farmoutside work, Keeping warm outside Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I got these just as a really bad cold snap of below zero wind chills for many days and they 'saved my life'! I have a small farm and must get out to the animals and with these on I could do my chores in complete comfort. They kept my back warm as well as my legs. Realized just how much they helped when I went out for 'just a short time' in just jeans to fill my bird feeders and got really chilled for the rest of the day. With my Carhartts on I stay completely warm...and not too warm, just right.
The material is stiff..not sure if this will change much with washing. I could not climb a ladder or bend down easily without unzipping the legs....but that is why they unzip, I would think....to allow more freedom of movement. Somewhat too bulky over jeans..i felt like a kid in a snowsuit that way; I then put them on over long johns only and that was just fine. I am 5'5" and have to roll the legs up about 4" to get a proper leg length; I think a shorter leg option should be available as these would be a major task to actually shorten. Shoulder straps are adjustable but very hard to manipulate to do so.
Overall the overalls are terrific and I don't know how I could tend to my little flock of critters without them in this type weather. They also easily allow a jacket to fit over them...not too thick and bulky on top.
These overalls would be suitable for any type of work outside in cold weather; the material is very tough so they can be worn where sharp edges could snag a lesser material. Not as good for a job where a lot of bending or climbing is involved.
