Not too much padding. I bought the next size up because of the feedback on the waist size from other buyers. However I have muscular legs and these are still a little loose. All in all a good buy.

These cycling shorts are lightly padded and more useful for the shorter rides (50 miles or less), or triathlons. Overall fit and feel is great.
