Very pleased w/ these boots. By MacHete from WV on 03/25/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Cons: Too Stiff/Not Flexible Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Light Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wear these for short (day) hikes on some steep, sometimes rocky terrain. But for a little stiffness, I am very pleased with them. They are sturdy, comfortable and lightweight, with very good traction. I haven't had the opportunity to thoroughly test their water-repellency yet, but I expect them to perform admirably. This is the first pair of Patagonia footwear that I have owned. Like their other products, these seem top-notch.
Great Boots for the price! By Sean 'till Dawn from chicago, IL on 03/25/2009 Pros: Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Light Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small, Feels too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: good value. these are for light to maybe mid duty outdoor activity. ankle support is sufficient, but could use to be a little beefier for more intense situations. All around good shoe.
By old fire from Laguna Niguel, CA on 03/22/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Cons: Difficult Laces, Poor Arch support Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too small, Feels too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I wear a size 12 and the catalog said to order a 1/2 size larger as they run small. There was no 12.5 to order so I ordered a 13. It was still too small by a full size. You were out of size 14 so I am out of luck.
Great light-weight hikers! By Foster Boy from Foster, Rhode Island on 03/16/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational, Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've owned dozens of light-weight hikers since Nike offered its Approach shoe in the early 1980's and I must say this boot is better than them all. Patagonia makes a great product and with Sierra Trading Post's discounts I couldn't resist. Wearable right out of the box and sized appropriately these were my favorite right away. I'm wearing them on the Knife's Edge trail in Baxter State Park next month with confidence.
My only complaint would be the unnecessary logo on the heal.
I would buy this product again. By tbone from Rock Springs, Wyoming on 03/11/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We are week-end hikers, any where from 3 to 6 miles over varied terrain. These boots give me excellent support with hardly in break in period.
Very Comfortable and Warm By City Slicker from New York City on 02/24/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Light Loads Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The description on the product page said order 1/2 size larger, and I did, and they fit perfectly. I am usually an 8, and I ordered 8-1/2, and they fit great. Very comfortable, fairly light weight, good looking (important for city wear--they don't make me look like a da m hippie), luggs on the vibram sole are very big-not a flat pavement-friendly sole, good ankle support, good padding around the ankle, slightly narrow width fits me well. Only drawback is that one might assume that since the upper is fabric that it would be breathable fabric, but it does not seem to be breathable fabric, so the shoes are a bit hoter than one might expect for shoes with a fabric upper. I did not buy these for desert hiking, so they are OK by me, but just FYI.
By tomollie from American Falls, ID on 02/23/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Using them as every day work boots. So far I love em!
Pleased with these boots. By MacHete from West Virginia on 02/10/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I typically hike in some rocky, heavily wooded ridges nearby. These hikes often require frequent creek and stream crossings, negotiating steep and muddy banks, and deep forest floor debris hiding rocks and roots. These boots help meet those challenges very well. My only complaint is the inside diameter of the lace eyelets, and the size and location of the speedlace lugs. I like to replace my "factory" laces with paracord, and the hardware on these boots is small enough to make that rather difficult.
