Shrug only, no top-disappointed By Elle from East Coast US on 01/30/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Flattering, Soft Cons: Low Value for Price, Not as pictured Best Uses: Special Occasions Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered this item for a party and would have returned it if not for the immediate need. It looks, from the picture, as though this is a two piece item, or an all-in-one top and shrug, but it is only the velvet trimmed part that you are getting. I ended up having to pull out an old black top to wear it over and was disappointed that my outfit plan was ruined. If the shrug alone is what you want and you find it worth the price, it is soft and nice, but not high quality or expensive looking. As is, i would not have paid over $20 for this much less the [$] that i did pay, but i had to have something to wear and now i'm stuck with it.
By La Jolla shopper from CA on 01/26/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Flattering, Great Color, Soft, Stylish, Warm Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Chest Size: Feels too small Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is an elegant, flattering sweater. The description doesn't make it sufficiently clear that two pieces are pictured in the photo, and that this item is only the TOP piece (shrug), which does not include the shell underneath. I count myself lucky that the shell was still available for purchase when I was buying, so I own the matching set. The shrug looks very good over a black lycra or black velvet shell underneath. I'd recommend that route for anyone who wants to buy the shrug now that the shell is apparently unavailable. Computer monitors vary in the way they display color; on my computer this photo is very true to the actual color of the sweater, which is a dark, subdued plum color. My only word of advice - if you're between sizes, order up. This runs just a tad small.
By Birdie from Pittsburgh, PA on 01/05/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Stylish Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Wish I had read the previous reviews. I don't know if they were placed after the time I placed my order, though. The cardigan is very nice, but there is NO bottom layer, only a long sleeve shrug. This top should be pictured without the underlayer, unless it is possible to order the mate to this set. Unfortunately, it is not offered for sale. I am hoping to be able to find a black velvet tank to go under this sweater. It is the only thing that would look appropriate. Also the color is not as it appears on the screen it is a really deep purple. The only reason I would not recommend it is that it is annoying to find a mate to something that should have been a set. It is similar to trying to match navy blue items not purchased together.

By Two of foo from Boston, MA on 11/30/2008 Pros: Great Color, Stylish Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: OK, this is truly my own fault, but I saw the picture and thought that the underlayer was a part of this. It's not. The sweater itself ends with the velvet band at the ribcage, and what you see in the picture is a tank added for...well, I don't know why it was added. It doesn't come with the sweater. I gave 3 stars because it is still pretty, but please look carefully at the picture before you decide.
