By Just plain Lisa from SW Pennsylvania on 03/21/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight, Packable Best Uses: Camping, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This pant has a flattering fit. I am a size 12 and have issues with pants fitting the hips correctly. I didn't have a problem with these. I've been rehabbing my outdoor gear and these are a perfect multi-purpose pant. I gave it four stars only because the noise of the material bothers me - but that is a my own little quirk!

By Alpine Hiker from Knoxville, TN on 07/23/2008 Pros: Breathable, High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight, Packable Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I just took these pants on a six-week hike in the German Alps where it was both colder and rainier than I had expected. These pants turned in a stellar performance: water beads on them for quite some time before they actually get wet, they dry very quickly, they're breathable yet warm enough for temperatures in the 40's. These were my favorite of the three pairs of pants I brought. One of my favorite features is the soft, felt-like lining around the waistband: it lets you carry a heavy pack all day without chafing or getting those ground-in elastic marks on your skin.
When looking at these pants, be aware of two things: 1) the soft waistband lining is great for carrying a pack, but it will make you sweat more than usual around the waist on warm days even if you aren't carrying one; and 2) these are NOT stylish city pants. They're not built to be especially flattering, but you don't need that in the backcountry.
Best mountain pants I've ever worn. By Moose from Colorado Springs, CO on 07/23/2008 Pros: Breathable, High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight, Packable, Stylish Best Uses: Backpacking, Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great fit at the hips but large at the waist. Wore these pants on the mountains in wet weather in the English Lake District and they were very comfortable, almost waterproof (after 6 continuous hours in the rain) and dried extremely quickly. Couldn't have wished for better pants in those conditions.
By SierraSage from Virginia City, NV on 07/15/2008 Pros: Breathable, Fast drying, High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight, Packable, Stretch freedom of move Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Cold Weather, Hiking, Snowshoeing, X-Country Skiing Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was so excited to find these pants in the STP store. Generally technical pants have a fit for women with slender hips, and these ones fit curves! I bought them for an Alps trek, but have been wearing them in the Sierra on very warm days to get an idea of the comfort range. The lighter stone color is great for summer. I'll save the black ones for fall / winter. They're breathable yet windproof. I haven't been in the rain with them, but splashing through creeks water seems to roll right off, even after a couple washes. I'll have to hand wash them a few times, and I don't doubt that they'll dry super fast. I would say the waist is true to size, but the hips would run large on some women. My only complaint, as others have mentioned, is the way the hand pockets gape open. I understand why they're placed where they are (below hip belt) but I had a friend sew them shut. And the soft waist lining is amazing.

I bought my normal size and they have a bit of room for long underwear underneath. I love the way they fit around the waist.
