But the side pockets gap which means I'll be sewing them shut.

By windgrrl from Alberta on 06/09/2008 Pros: Breathable, High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight, Packable, Stylish Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great pants for going from walking the dog on a wet day to running around for chores. Cuffs fit nicely fit over hiking boots. I will stich the side pockets closed as I am a bit hippy and they open out making my hips look wider!
By Peregrination from Chico, CA on 05/26/2008 Pros: Breathable, High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight, Packable Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking, Spring skiing Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are great for skiing in the late season heat...I stayed cool, the fabric streched and it was tough enough to withstand the demands of backcountry skiing.
TERRIFIC FABRIC/COMFORTABLE By Cookie Personal Trainer from Trout Lake, WA on 05/24/2008 Pros: Breathable, High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight, Packable, Stylish Cons: RUNS Large, Strange fit Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I re-ordered size 8 and they fit really well, quite full in the hips and lowrise waist is pretty generous cut as well. would not fit everyone right for sure. they tend to run large. i originally ordered a 10. but the 8 size shorts are too tight. love the fabric and comfort, plenty long for 5'4". i have 2 pair of long pants and 2 pair of the shorts. shorts are very comfortable as well, but sizing is off.
UNIQUE Design/ Comfortable By Cookie Personal Trainer from Trout Lake, WA on 05/10/2008 Pros: Breathable, High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight, Packable Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Like the design, but run large. sizing seems to run larger than typical mountain hardware pants. i am ordering a smaller pair. length is ok since i am 5'4", like the low rise waist for me. lightweight, nice fabric if they fit.
By Hiker Girl from Alexandria VA on 04/30/2008 Pros: High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight, Packable Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Hiking the Wilderness 100, need lightweight and easy pack.
By Lena from Maryland on 04/23/2008 Best Uses: Backpacking, Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I said I am recreational but I do do extensive backpacking trips in the West and South America. Living in the same pair of pants for more than a week - they better feel good! These seem tough and useful to backpacking. Pockets are low and accessible without removing pack. Mountain Hardwear tends to make their pants comically short for my taste but these are just long enough.
Great pants for the right body By Swimmergirl from Bakersfield, CA on 04/22/2008 Pros: Breathable, High-Quality Material and Stitching, Lightweight, Packable Cons: Not Enough Pockets or Features, Weird Fit Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Hiking, Travel Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These would be excellent backpacking pants, if they fit you. I had to return them. They have a traditional fit, which would be great for a woman with a narrow waist with a curvy behind and thighs. So if you're out there (and I know you are) these would look great on you. For those without curves, the pocket placement and cut of the pants is really unflattering, with way too much room. But the soft lined waist would be really nice, and loved the articulated knees and gussetted crotch. Wish Mountain Hardwear would make some pants like this in a modern cut.
