I have not tested in the coldest of Michigan weather, but ithink it will be fine with a medium to heavy fleece underneath.

Absolutely well worth the price. I've owned many jackets from all the top brands. This is by far the best- and least I've paid for- ski jacket.

By Todd from Chula Vista CA on 02/23/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Good Cut, Lightweight, Warm Cons: Eventually became damp Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Warm, water repellent jacket used for the first time with family sledding, tubing etc. in Yosemite. After two hours rolling around in a foot of snow, the jacket did become slightly damp but dried fairly quickly once indoors. That works for me. The underarm vents are gigantic and did help with overheating. Overall, great performance and I assume for skiing and snowboarding, with less time actually in contact with snow, this jacket would be awesome.
By Rob from St. Petersburg, FL on 02/22/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Warm Cons: Torso length is too short Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Nice jacket and it keeps me warm on windy days when walking the dog along the beach. I find the jacket warm enough to keep me warm by itself in 40 degree weather. I don't like that the torso feels to short. I'm skinny and average height for a medium and it barely reaches my waist which is slightly annoying. I probably should have ordered a large but the sleeve lenght on the medium is plenty long.
By Lenner from Santa Fe, NM on 01/22/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Warm Cons: Order one size larger Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: nice jacket for everyday use. I had to order one size larger than I normally wear.
By Ultramax from Tacoma, WA on 12/20/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Good Cut, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Daily Use, Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket ideal for rain or snow. In the Pacific Northwest its an all around winter jacket, although in serious cold you'd want something warmer. The pit zips are nice to have for skiing or snow shoeing.
By dontfencemein from Central Wisconsin on 12/15/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Good Cut, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Daily Use, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Spent more time than I should looking for a replacement jacket for the 40F to -10F temp range in which I live 5 months of the year. I also wanted a versitle jacket that I could grab without thinking no matter what the weather in Autumn, Winter or Spring.I narrowed it down to the Patagonia Micro Puff, LL Bean Primaloft rain jacket, and this one. Since I'm pretty rough on clothes I ruled out the Pat., then finally went with the MH because it was on sale for less than the LLBean one. When I pulled it out of the box I was sceptical if the MH Torque would be warm enough, but after a week the insulation seemed to loft pretty good and it's proven to be exactly what I was looking for. I've worn it in rain, sleet, and snow as well as 35 to -5F weather. It kept me completely dry and warm until about 0 degrees, then got chilly in a hurry. I still give it 5 stars since it does what I ask, looks good, and seems to hold up to daily wear just fine. High quality garmet all around.
By Sparky from Fort Worth, Texas GO LONGHORNS! on 12/09/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Good Cut, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Daily Use, Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As usual excellent product from Mountain Hardware. I have 6 or more Mountain hardware jackets/coats and love them all. This is going to replace my 15 year old Hely/Hanson ski jacket. Only took ten years to find one! Very pleased.
