Great Italian Made Leather Climbing Boot By CMCER from Colorado on 09/14/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great fit, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Cons: Heavy, Need to waterproof, Too Stiff/Not Flexible Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Peak Bagger 14ers Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I like a good Italian made leather boot better that all the synthetic boots now being made, even though they maybe lighter. Since many companies have gone to China to make their boots the quality has gone down hill i.e Vasque, I can't find a pair that fits well at all anymore and that was the only boot I would wear, the Hiker II series, but not any more since China started.

By philb from Casper, Wyoming on 09/01/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Just finished hiking the 6 mile Medicine Bow Peak loop in the Snowy Range Mts of Southern Wyoming. This was my first real test of these boots. This hike is a combination of trail, rough trail, scree slopes, and boulder hopping with about a 2000 foot elevation gain. Prior to this hike I had worn these boots around the house and on some easy neighborhood jaunts,
On the trail these boots provided plenty of ankle support and although not completely broken in I have no blisters. I did not encounter much water so I do not know how water resistant they are. I have been treating them with Huber's Shoe Grease and highly recommend this product.
By the way, I have pretty narrow feet. I placed my custom orthotics over the factory inserts and the boots fit well. I have the medium width boots.
I also own a pair of Alico Tahoe boots and am equally pleased with them as a lighter weight boot.
Should of bought two pairs, great deal! By muttmaster from Bishop, CA on 08/31/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Environmentalist, Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
By viking from denmark on 08/25/2009 Cons: Heavy, Not Comfortable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I would have used them for hiking and everyday use. I think I got a pair wich shouldn't have passed the quality control. One boot was bigger than the other and both of them were too high in the same side, so they were not even symetric. I returned them, but I would really like a regular pair of these boots, cause thy look veeery solid.

I have gortex boots and my feet sweat more in them.

These are well made solid boots. It is hard to find them like this anymore! They fit true to size. We ordered two pairs one for my boyfriend and one for myself. I added arch support but my boyfriend didn't need to. Great boot for the buck!
