These are in and out of the office on widely varying terrain. Very easy breaking and a nice out of the box fit.
By Ranger Jeff from Colorado on 01/21/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Professional Guide Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a field scientist and outdoor educator. My last pair of this boot last me 5+ years and I put over 2000 miles on them. The tread has worn down to bald and the leather is starting to give, prompting me to shop for another pair. These boots will last as long as any boot and stay very waterproof if you keep up on maintaining the leather. I initially had reservations because I wanted a boot with a toe cap, but this did not matter with the sundowner. I use these boots for backpacking, day hiking and peak climbing and they perform for every use. I recommend them to anyone wanting a boot that will last.
By Juansky from Castro Valley, CA on 01/15/2008 Pros: Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Cons: Sole Wears Out Quickly, Squeaks Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I agree, this is my 3rd set of the Mx2 Sundowner and the sole falls apart everytime. Funny thing is I don't hike with them but once in a while. I really like the simple design and style but I wish Vasque could correct the sole problem so they can last a bit longer.

By James the park ranger from NC on 09/08/2007 Describe Yourself: Conservative Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: They do great for the 1 hundred or so miles, but the soles start to come apart. I've had these boots and the sister boot clarion. Every pair has had the sole fall off before the tread was worn half way. Not fun half way up the trail.
