She found them to be suitably fashionable for the concerned 8 year old she is. The only con is the top loops are a bit difficult for her manage herself, the laces tend to slip out. Otherwise these are an excellent choice! Her feet stay warm and dry and she especially likes that there is no removable felt liner like her last boots. She found that type of liner uncomfortable when tucking her pants in. They've worked out extremely well for the snow fort building, snowball throwing and general tromping through the snow she's enjoyed.

She loves them! They are extremely warm and comfy. The only apprehension I had to buying them was that kids do not like to take the time to lace boots, but she doesn't seem bothered by it. I actually bought them a little big so that she may get 2 years' use out of them, so she wears 2 pairs of socks this year. I think that will actually keep her feet that much warmer. I am hoping she isn't too rough with them because they also fit me and I hope to use them when she has outgrown them.

Beause the upper portion is leather (above the rubber portion) it keeps her a dryer than other "waterproof" boots. She loves them and has no problem wearing them for extended periods of walking like on a recent field trip with school. I didn't mark certain areas as I don't know - it's hard to get a 6-year old to tell you if boots are breathable :)

He liked them so much I bought him the same pair in a larger size.
