By trap from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada on 02/25/2009 Cons: Poor Construction, Poor Fit Best Uses: Ontario Backcountry Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Even though previous reviews stated that these boots pinch at the toe I went ahead and bought them figuring they would work in. A pinch is and understatement, they crush! After one ski with my size 13 boots I dread ever putting them on again. After 20km of skiing they show no signs of breaking in to a comfortable boot. They are a solidly constructed boot, but there was obviously no field testing, at least in a size 13.
By No zippers on my shoes! from Vermont on 02/10/2009 Pros: Basic boot for old school Cons: First pair came unglued Best Uses: Utility skiing old gear Describe Yourself: Advanced Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Got these boots after a long search for basic leather ski boots that I could use on my very old telemark gear. Was disappointed that I couldn't find old style boots with sewn soles, since my last pair kept going for years. Also didn't want to spend $400! First pair I tried came apart after 10 minutes because the sole was not glued on properly. Decided to give them another try and second pair seems fine. I did notice that the boot "folds" on my toes as mentioned by another review, but found that the problem was solved by a little skiing to break in the leather. Overall I am happy with the boots especially for the price, but am still grieving the death of my old ski boots! Give these a try if you can't stand all the fancy zippered "stuff" out there.
Old Schoolers may want to look at this By RW from New Mexico on 02/09/2009 Pros: Look Cool, Quality Construction Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Not much in the way of leather 75mm boots left. If you like this type of boot this may be a good choice.
By hirvrsd from Terryville, CT on 01/31/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy Lacing System, Quality Construction, Warm Best Uses: Backcountry skiing, Cross country skiing Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've used these only once so far for cross-country skiing. They are stiff compared to my old low cut cross-country ski boots, but I couldn't find anything else worth buying in 75mm. Fortunately I like the stiffness and the support, since I tend to twist my ankles. There will be a break in period though for where the boot flexes. I did have to order a half size smaller than I usually do for hiking boots--I think this is because the little extra I need in hiking boots after they get wet and shrink is already accounted for in the bendy toe of 75mm boots. I believe the old description said they boots had a norwegian welt--they do not.
By skivet from hinesburg, vt on 01/23/2009 Pros: Easy Lacing System, Quality Construction Describe Yourself: Advanced Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: never used them, too low and the bend hits too high on the foot
By Mountain Man from Walla Walla, WA on 01/21/2009 Cons: Poor Construction, Poor Fit Best Uses: Low key touring Describe Yourself: Advanced Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Boot pinches toes when flexed and is not very stiff torsionally. For me it is very uncomfortable. Too flimsy feeling for confident turning when backcountry touring.
