By benbart from Fairbanks, AK on 07/23/2008 Pros: Good ventilation, Lightweight Cons: Interferes with sunglasse Best Uses: Mountain biking Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I miss the days when helmet manufacturers would offer 6 different sizes and have a separate mold for each size. The E2 comes in more different sizes than the worst offenders, so it has that going for it and it almost fits me as well as my older helmets. I think this helmet looks great, vents well and is light enough.
What peeves me about this helmet is that the retention system interferes with my Oakley M-Frame Pro and Oakley Wire sunglasses (yeah, I'm oldschool). If your sunglasses are the type that wrap down around your ear rather than straight back across your head, you probably won't have a problem. Also the back-of-the-head pieces are hard plastic and I may glue some neoprene to them to make them softer.
Pro quality helmet: lite/secure/breathes By VTSEAL from Northeastern PA on 07/22/2008 Pros: Convenient back-of-head adjustment, Good ventilation, Lightweight Best Uses: Mountain biking, Road cycling Describe Yourself: Competitive Cyclist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend The E2 is a fantastic, professional quality helmet - Giro's top of the line mountain helmet. Outstanding breathability, extremely light, and the best retention system out there. Comes w/ a host of extra pads to fine tune the fit.
Removeable visor, so it works equally well on the road. Definitley the most comfortable overall lightweight helmet I've worn. I bought this one to replace my old E2; have used an E2 for years on recreational rides and races. Have ridden numerous 24hr solo races and helmet remains comfortable. A lightweight helmet that doesn't roll forward is critical with a helmet mounted lighting system, and this fits the bill...
MEASURE YOUR HEAD TO GET THE RIGHT SIZE. You can adjust by moving the anchor points for the side snug straps (velcro anchor point); but you don't want a bucket that is way too big or small. Remember to measure with your 'do rag or headband if you wear one...
By B. from Basalt, CO on 06/09/2008 Pros: Comfortable Fit, Good Ventilation, Highly Adjustable, Lightweight Best Uses: All-Around, Long Rides, Mountain Biking, Warm Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great helmet. Fit is comfortable and secure. I ride a lot of single track and rough trails, and my gripe about most of the helmets I've used in the past is they are not secure enough on my head and tend to slide down on my forehead unless they were wrenched down uncomfortable tight. This one seems to stay put and still be comfortable. The light weight helps in this regard. It breathes like air conditioning. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because to me, the straps around my ears could lay flatter, but I feel that way about almost every helmet. Maybe it's my ears, maybe just a little more time in the helmet, but at this price, I would buy one while you can!
Great Looking, Sporty Helmet By cmcer1995 from Colorado Springs, CO on 05/09/2008 Pros: Comfortable Fit, Good Ventilation, Lightweight, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Mountain Biking, Warm Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great for Mt. Biking, Reasonably Priced, Not a [$]Helmet for a $10 Head, Toughness on Impact Unknown-don't want to Find-out, Keeping a Cool Head while Working Hard Not a Problem, and Styling at the same Time.

Rear plastic in liner failed. By Baba-ji from Alexandria, VA on 01/17/2008 Pros: Comfortable Fit, Good Ventilation, Highly Adjustable, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend I used this helmet to commute with, until today (Jan 16). After a season and a half commuting, the rear plastic parts have failed at two points. The back of the helmet liner now swings freely. I have written to Giro and hope they will fix this helmet at no charge. I loved the helmet, but now have questions about its overall integrity and am a bit wary of it. It is made in China.
This helmet fits those with larger heads and was the most comfortable one have owned. The failure of liner that holds the shell to my head makes wonder if I was not sacrificing safety for comfort....
By Cycling Betty from Salt Lake City, UT on 12/11/2007 Pros: Comfortable Fit, Good Ventilation, Highly Adjustable, Lightweight, Tough Cons: Visor slips occassionally Best Uses: All-Around, Mountain Biking, Road Biking, Warm Weather Describe Yourself: Competitive Cyclist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have gone through a few helmets recently, all different brands and I always come back to Giro. I have found that you cannot skimp on price, though. This helmet is priced mid-range (plus you get a great discount if you wait a year and buy last-years) and fits wonderfully. It is cushioned perfectly, holds tight to my head and does not slip. I would highly recommend this helmet to anyone, Mountainbiker or Road.
