I got them for hunting in the woods. They are a real bargain at this price. The clarity is excellent, the size/weight in great, and they are well armored.

not for wildlife watching By desert southwesterner from roswell on 03/11/2008 Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction, Works Well With Glasses Best Uses: Security, Yachting Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: the description said they were for birding and wildlife, but maybe they're talking about wildlife at the local petting zoo? They're good binos, but the magnification is simply not strong enough for wildlife. I use some 40-year-old 8x30 Nikons which are great, but they weigh a ton, and I wanted some more compact ones. I thought that 8x22 might be sufficient. But they're not. You can tell that they're made by Steiner: The optics are good. Still, I'll be sending them back.

These will replace compact binoculars from another maker that served well, but gave out after a number of years. I am already impressed by the greater clarity, and am confident that they will serve me well. Sierra does it again!
