By H the Geo from Victoria, Australia on 11/05/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational, Environmentalist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Ordering online from Australia I was hopeful that i would get the sizing right and that the boots would do what i'd need them to do. The sizing turned out to be spot on (i ordered the wide fit for my mid-sized Aussie feet, and they are the perfect width) and i went on a 12km hike the day after they arrived, with no ill effects, sore spots or problems. They seen solidly waterproof and are quite a bit lighter than i expected, but still solid with the righ balance of stiffness and fore-foot flexibility.
great shoes, i'd recommend them to anyone.
Excellent product - extremely pleased By Dog Walker from Des Moines, Iowa on 11/04/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Cons: Difficult Laces, Long Break-in Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I walk my dog day and night in all kinds of weather. These boots fit the bill for one half of the year when the weather turns nasty.
By Todd the Surveyor from Bishop, Ca on 11/04/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Lightweight, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Cons: Difficult Laces, Will shrink when wet over Best Uses: Everyday, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I where this everyday for work, all outdoor conditions-desert dry, mud, rain, snow, plus hiking on the weekends. They are comfortable from day 1 and a great deal. I do get a 1/2 size bigger then a normal shoe. I get 1 year out of them- about 350 days of wear until the side seams break down and after excessive water logging they do shrink. This is my 6th pair and they haven't let me down yet. The laces do need to be double knotted or the come undone.
Easy 2 See Why It's a Winner By Flash from Michigan's Upper Peninsula on 11/03/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Flexible, Great Traction, Quality Build, To Be Determined Cons: None so far, To Be Determined Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, To Be Determined, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Runnerexercise geek Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Normally wear 11 medium. Ordered 45-WIDE, as comments seemed to suggest that Italian designed boots run a bit narrow. Correct! The boot fits perfectly, especially with a quality, light/medium cushioned, merino technical hiking sock. Winter (snowshoe jogging/hiking/everyday) is my primary application. Can't wait to test, especially Asolo lug sole. Wore around the house for 3 days. Then, a 5 mile hike on varied "urban" wet/dry terrain. They honestly felt so good that I was tempted to break into a run! Cannot imagine anyone needing serious break-in if you have right size/socks & correct lacing. Only 4 stars, as promising relationship has just begun. If you need more than what these boots offer, then you need a mountaineering boot, not a hiking boot. STP & Asolo come through again with real quality at an awesome price.
Backpack boots comfort like House shoes By Rick from Mont. Al./ Atlanta, Ga. on 11/02/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Super quick to lace, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I got these One week ago and have not taken them off, really I love them!
Dry warm feet on wet rocky terrain By Still Scouting Nate from Northwet Washington on 11/02/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I needed new boots for cold wet overnight back packing. They got two miles of break-in one day before first hike. Had hard cold rain on first outing with some running water on trail. Had some rocky parts on the trail, the soles performed well (did not have that too thin and soft syndrome). These boots performed well. They look like they should last, ask me in two years about 5 stars. I have been a Solomon fan this experience will broaden my outdoor footwear options.

This is my second pair, not disappointed By johnvt from vermont on 11/01/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Light Loads Describe Yourself: Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is the second pair of asolo fsn 95's that I have owned. After 4 years of heavy use, the boot was intact but the Goretex was compromised. The new pair fits, is comfortable out of the box and is slightly bigger than the old pair.
By evlm0nkey from Up Hampshire on 10/31/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Flexible, Water Resistant Cons: Not Durable/ Wears Easily Best Uses: Day Hiking, Light Loads Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too big, Feels too large Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This is my second pair of the FSN95 after returning the first. These boots are fairly comfortable, provide good support, good waterproofing/breathability, but do not provide the traction on wet surfaces that I was expecting and are not durable.
The primary issue that I have with these is how quickly the soles started to wear down. I am not a large person and after less than 50 miles of strictly hiking (no blacktop/pavement, etc.) the toe area was completely worn flat and the other "nubs" were breaking down. I corresponded with Asolo USA directly and they confirmed that this is not typical of these boots, so I returned them to STP as defective. I am hoping for better results with the second pair, but I noticed after one five-mile hike that the sole looks much more worn than I would expect. We'll see...
