Comments:
I am a Scout leader with a history of orthopedic problems in my feet. I thought I would have to give up hiking before I found them. It used to feel like I was walking on broken bones and tearing tendons when I hiked. I gave the boots a thorough soaking when new to make them conform to my feet (hard to do, because the water resistance is so good). Do not expect a slipper like comfort; support and stability are what these boots are all about, and if you need that, they are the greatest. Not so good for dancing or kicking around town. :-) I've used these boots in temperatures of H.I. 102 and W.C.F. of -40. They breath well at higher temperatures. The rubber soles got a little slick at the lower range (duh). Not only would I recommend these for a friend, I'd buy them for all of them if I could afford it. One of the best products of any kind I've ever purchased.

Good Boots
By A-Dawg from New Hampshire on 06/30/2008
Pros:
Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant
Cons:
Difficult Laces, Too Stiff/Not Flexible
Best Uses:
Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Sizing:
Feels too large
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Good supportive boots. Water proof, the sizing is a little off, I ordered a 10.5, and is a little bigger than I would have liked, but a 10 would no doubt be too small. I changed the laces as soon as I put them on. The original laces slipped through the eyelets too easily, and I couldn't get them snug around my foot. Changed to some big thick laces and was fine. I did read a couple of reviews about blisters for the first ~15 miles or so, and I had the same problem. Blisters on the inside of my heels, but by the end of about 14 miles they felt better. Need some more breaking in, maybe about 50 miles or so in the Whites.

This is my third pair of Asolo boots,I day hike in the Tehachapi mountains and backpack in the Sierras and they have always done the job just great,I have only used the new pair on a day hike so far,but I have a trip this summer to Palisades glacier and Im sure they will shine as my past Asolos have. They seem to only need a short break in time, and they are very comfortable.

look great in photos. For the price I expected lace hooks instead each boot has four nylon loops for the laces to run through instead of hooks.
