By Boston backpacker from Boston MA on 10/05/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Knowing these were backpacking boots, I started to break them in running small trips over time. I made a terrible mistake one morning, wearing socks to short for the boot. The fabric inside of the boot is very abrasive, like sandpaper, and my feet are cut up--which again was my fault. As long as you have a good thick pair of long wool socks, these fit amazingly well--in fact, the best fit I've ever had from a boot. No sliding, plenty of room in the toe box, easy to lace, and lighter than most of the backpacking boots I've worn--but very stiff on the onset.

These boots are a perfect fit for me (I wear 8-8 1/2 & purchased 8 1/2). I can wear med- to heavy-weight socks for warmth or comfort with no squeezed toes. I like the rubber toe-guards, sealed tongue, & that they're Gortex.

By loves2campNY from Rochester, NY on 09/21/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: [...] They feel very roomy in the toe area but with a pair of wool socks my feet don't slide around at all. I didn't break them in at all before hiking a rigorous 9-mile hike in the Shenandoahs. They're very comfortable and I would highly recommend them! They also kept my feet dry during numerous stream crossings.

By SAR Dog from Black Hills, South Dakota on 09/13/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have a search and rescue dog and the training alone takes me into all types of conditions. I was skeptical that these boots would be as good as they are. When I first put them on they felt stiff and I was afraid I'd get blisters. After my first trail, I was sold. I haven't tried them yet in wet conditions, but I feel confident the GORE TEX lining willl keep me dry.
