They are made of one-piece leather and the Gore-tex lining - with regular application of wax to the leather, these boots have kept my feet dry in winter snow and crossing streams. They take a few hikes to wear in (using leather conditioner helps soften it), so don't take them on an expedition out of the box. But after this, they are great. My feet are wider than normal and they are snug in these on shorter hikes, but they do ache a little at the widest parts after longer day hikes 9I suggest Asolo boots if you have wider feet). Good ankle support. The soles are long lasting.

might be a bit much for day-to-day casual wear, but for serious hiking / mountaineering, they're great.

Great boot, not for wide feet. Too bad! Wasn't able to use it becuse the front of my foot is too wide. This would be a great shoe for a normal to narrow foot. The shoe seems to fit about a half size smaller then I expected.
