Great helmet -- comfortable, fits well By bb from Madison, WI on 02/03/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Convenient back-of-head adjustment, Good ventilation, Lightweight, Nice fit system/pads Cons: No Visor, Slightly tight Best Uses: Everyday riding Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I thought this helmet would be big enough to wear over my winter hat, because I measured my head circumference wearing my hat. The helmet fits with my hat on, but just barely, and only when I wear my thin hat. Other than that, I love the helmet. It is flashy red, sturdy, comfortable, and very easy to adjust. I wear it daily for bike commuting and highly recommend it to others.
I would buy this product again By Gracie the Obsessed Cyclist from Billings, Montana on 02/02/2009 Pros: Convenient back-of-head adjustment, Durable, Easy to adjust chin strap, Good ventilation, Lightweight, Nice fit system/pads Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This helmet is awesome! It fits great and is easy to adjust. It is light weight but has great coverage and protection. The only thing I didn't like was the back-of-head adjuster was poking into my head at first but it is easy to fix, just hold it flat when putting it on.
By Roger from Wichita, KS on 01/28/2009 Pros: Convenient back-of-head adjustment, Good ventilation, Lightweight, Nice fit system/pads Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm an avid cyclist who commutes on an MTB and takes weekend rides on a "vintage" road bike. Sometimes I do longer group rides, too. Honestly, it's been too cold to use this helmet, yet, as I'm still using my old helmet with the vents taped over. So, I can't even say how well it works. Maybe I can give an update in a few months. As for fit, be very careful measuring your head (should go without saying). I am a borderline size at about 58.5 cm. However, when I measured my head prior to ordering, I read about 57.5 cm, so thought I'd be "just in" with the medium. The Sierra Trading Post size range is listed as 58 cm maximum. Had I measured more carefully, I would not have ordered this helmet. Oddly, the sticker inside the helmet says "55-59 cm," but there is no way this helmet would fit a person with a 59 cm head. STP got it right, and I screwed up. This is a kudos for STP as most retailers would not know their products well enough to correct the mfg's size range. As it is, I'm keeping the helmet because I salvaged a thinner pad from another helmet to use as the brow pad. With the standard side pads and this homegrown solution, the helmet feels great. I would never do this on a helmet I spent $75 or $80 on, but the STP deal was too good to pass up, and I'm not likely to find another deal on a helmet of this quality any time soon. Even the "one size fits all" Bell lids at[...] are over twice what I paid for this one.
