By Tundra from Paradise, CA on 06/16/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Used them for a couple of day hikes on rough, rocky terrain to size them up, then on a climb with crampons (Mt Shasta). The boots are very comfortable, with a great footbed. I'd say they're like a heavy hiker that can be used for mtn work, but a too lightweight for serious ice/glacier or winter climbing. Good multi-purpose boot

By funkstuf from Yakima, WA on 05/04/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Cons: Heavy, Too Stiff/Not Flexible Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these boots to climb Rainier next month. I took them out for a very steep hill climb and found them to be comfortable. No blisters or hot spots after 7 hours of hiking.
I believe they will be great for climbing on a mountain with snow. They were a little too stiff for casual hiking. Going down the steep parts the back of my ankle got bruised because they have no give. They are very durable and for the price they are an excellent boot. I believe they will be sufficient for a few days on the mountain and OK for a casual hike.
Light on weight, high on quality By Flammeus from Krumville, NY on 03/04/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As a year round hiker I appreciate that this boot is both warm and provides excellent support. It is also 25% lighter than the next lightest boot in its class. Step-in crampon comptability rounds out this boots utility. The fit was great right out of the box, but that is strictly subjective to my wider than average foot.

It is stiffer than my previous pairs. It is comfortable, and with use may become more flexible.
Excelllent light Weight Boot By Bruce from Portland, OR on 02/08/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These have been excellent boots. There was a break-in period of a couple days use. The rubber eventually started pealing from the leather on the fronts. My feet have always been dry, though I often hit them with a silicone water proofer before serious climbs. I have taken these up Mt Hood, Mt Shasta, Mt Theilsen, Mt Adams, ect. and will be buying another pair or two from Sierra. Images shared by: Bruce
