By Hey MAAA! from Tucson on 08/03/2009 Pros: Adjustable Hood, Comfortable, Lightweight, Roomy, Stows Easily, Warm Best Uses: 3 Season Camping, Backpacking, Car Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Used this the first time this past weekend backpacking in the mountains near Tucson. Warmth wasn't an issue, as the night was fairly warm, but it was very comfortable -- I didn't overheat -- and it just feels yummy. Easy to get into its stuff sack and into my backpack. From the photo it didn't look as if it had a hood, but it seems to. Great for the price!
By The Dutchman from Michigan on 07/21/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Stows Easily Cons: Not a semi-rectangular, Poor Hood Design, Zipper Snags Easily Best Uses: Summer backpacking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Read the fine print! This is a mummy bag. I ordered the same bag this past winter and got a semi-rectangular bag that I just love. This second bag showed up as a mummy (in the written description, but not the pic). For a summer weight bag, I much prefer the rectangular bag, but that is obviously personal preference. Zipper has propensity to snag but you just need to be careful. Stuff sack is too big for this bag. It will pack smaller if you get a different sack. Good value if you like mummy style bag.

lightweight but not warm enough By Tenebrae from Denver, CO on 07/01/2009 Pros: Adjustable Hood, Comfortable, Lightweight, Stows Easily Cons: Compression Sack Needed, Not Warm Enough Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The light weight and small stuff size are ideal for backpacking, and the bag was very comfortable.
However, camping in late June at 11,000' (in a tent, using a 1/2" ground cover, wearing thermal UW) was cold!
Great for low altitude summer use.
Good to 45 degrees, nice and light By Janine Outdoor Nut from Seattle Area on 06/23/2009 Pros: Compression sack included, Lightweight, Roomy, Store sack cotton, Stows Easily Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, Low elevation Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Found the stuff sack inside the bag at the bottom which is small and water proof. Good light bag but large too. Has a cotton store sack that you can keep it in when not in use so that the feathers can fluff. Good only to 45 degrees, could use a liner and get a bit more warmth.
By Ogie from Greensboro, NC on 06/19/2009 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Used this on a 3-day trip on the AT in VA. It got down to ~40 deg and i was still very warm. The bag had a good amount of room at the shoulders so i did not get claustrophobic pacs down pretty small and light weight.
By meg from san jose, ca on 05/25/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Roomy, Stows Easily, Warm Cons: Compression sack too big Best Uses: 3 Season Camping, Backpacking, Car Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I recently purchased this sleeping bag to use on a 3 day backpacking trip. The first night the temp was slightly below 45 degrees, and I was comfortable. For the price, this is a light, comfortable and warm sleeping bag. I'm glad I purchased it. It would have been nice if the stuff sack was smaller. It was larger than it needed to be, and the sleeping bag could have been compressed more and taken up less pack space. I may get a smaller stuff sack for my next trip.
Good design, good price, awful smell By Guardabosques from Puerto Rico on 05/19/2009 Pros: Adjustable Hood, Comfortable, Lightweight, Stows Easily Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I don't like sending back items I buy unless the price I paid merits the hassle. If it weren't for the price I paid for this SB I would have sent it back to Sierra. I own several down items and none of has this smell; they are odorless. This Shavano, right out of the box, smelled like it was made from poultry leftovers. I washed it, rinsed it, febreezed it, and the smell is there. Finally I hung it outdoors for a few days to see if the smell finally surrenders. If the odor is something other than down material it should go away before my next trip in June.
