Great Bag To Zip together By Natron from North Bend, WA on 04/27/2009 Pros: Adjustable Hood, Comfortable, Great Zipper System, Lightweight, Stows Easily, Warm Best Uses: Backpacking, Bottom Half Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: In The question of down vs synthetic, down is "hands down" more comfortable. Down breathes so much better and regulates temperature so much better than synthetics. I sleep far better in a down bag.
I used this bag to zip to my zero degree down bag for my wife and I. This is a perfect bag for that because of the now harder to find straight zipper. Plus this is a Generous cut, perfect for this purpose. The entire 45 degree half goes on the bottom and the zero on the top, like your comforter at home. With a nice pad it is not neccesary for the bottom half of the bag to be thick.
Heres an extra tid bit,
I have two matching lightweight inflatable pads and a lightweight evazoate tent ground mat that covers both pads entirely (the ground mat goes on top). Myself and my wife love how comfortable this sleeping arrangement is. The whole pad set up weighs less than 4lbs.

By Time to get out! from Carbondale, CO on 02/23/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Stows Easily Best Uses: Backpacking, Cycling, Fast packing, Hunting bed roll Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: After covering 25-35 miles a day on a trail I want to be able to strecth out and relax my legs at night. The Shavano allows me to do this. It is a couple of ounces heavier than some in it's class but I can sleep with one leg in an L-shape all night. Shoulder width on down to feet you'll feel comfy. It's not a true mummy design so the draw string can be tricky across the head if you need to tighten it down. I'm 5'-10"
By Jay-Dee from Wash. DC on 02/10/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Stows Easily, Very Compactible, Warm Cons: Compression Sack Needed Best Uses: 3 Season Camping, Backpacking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I haven't used this bag back-country yet, but just for car camping so far and traveling. It compresses super small (you can get a small or med. compression sack), and is really warm. I had forgotten it doesn't have a hood, but I am 5'8 and can put my head inside so that has been fine. It is roomy enough to turn over comfortably, but small enough to keep you warm. This bag is exactly what I wanted.
By sticklady from New England on 01/29/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Stows Easily Best Uses: Cool summer nights, Early fall, Late spring Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It is not intended for cold weather so it does not need a hood. The bag is more roomy (wider) than most, with lots of foot room, so it is easy to move around inside. It has been warm down to 52 F. I have not had the opportunity to try it in colder temps. Easy to get into stuff sack and packs up pretty small. I wish the pad straps were removable, for use in my hammock. I find they are a bit in the way when not needed.

By Miller Hill from Ann Arbor, MI on 01/01/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Pack super small, Stows Easily Cons: Wierd straps attached Best Uses: 3 Season Camping, Backpacking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This bag is good for summer use. It packs down super small. the stuff sack it came with was way to big! I stufffed it into a 6" x 13" stuff sack. Its length is good for me but I am 5"7. If I were any taller I would get the long style.
Overall a good bag for the price.
Lots of features, ample space--too much? By Hiker chick from Cambridge, MA on 09/13/2008 Pros: Great Zipper System, Lightweight Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this bag looking for a light summer bag I could easily carry for a low weight overnight. This one was both more and less than I bargained for. I thought it had a hood, like the right-zip version. No, there's no hood (though this cuts several oz of weight). I also can't find info anywhere whether the L and R versions would zip together if we'd bought both. I am a small woman, and this bag was AMPLE for me, pretty ample even for my 5'-10" BF (although he'd be sleeping with his head above top, and it'd be a cave for me). It is lightweight, and the full length zip and foot room are pure basecamp luxury. However, the stuffed size is 6" longer (1/3!) than the Golite daze, which is the one I'm settling on. Regrettably, small stuff size trumps the Shavano's equally light weight with more features and larger stuff size. Also the Daze offered a short model, and I truly need that in a unisex bag.
