By Caught Up in Knotz from Cary, NC on 06/08/2009 Pros: Drag is great, Durable, Reliable, Smooth Drag System, Smooth Reeling Best Uses: EstuaryBay fishing, Fly Fishing Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use this product for both Salt water Redfish and Steelies in Steelhead alley (September and November trip planned). The reel worked great on the Reds down here in the Carolinas. This drag is so awesome I am gonna get a Lamson to use on Albies. The reel costs me significantly less than others I own and I now see the raves were spot on.
Lamson reels are dependably first rate. By 'witz from Miami FL on 04/16/2009 Pros: Durable, Minimal weight's great, Reliable, Smooth Drag System, Smooth Reeling Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: A superb reel and a great value. Smooth operation and maybe the lightest weight-per-size on the market. The press-in, press-out way of changing the reel spool takes some getting used to because it's so different from other fly reels. Both hands and thumbs are needed to do it. It would frustrate someone with below-average hand and thumb strength.
By Stumpy from Indianapolis, IN on 04/14/2009 Pros: Durable, Reliable, Smooth Drag System, Smooth Reeling Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I now own three of these. I used to be a Ross man, but discovered Lamsons and cannot say enough about the quality. Even at retail these things are way underpriced for the quality. I usually fish this reel on my 6 wt for smallies and on my 8 wt for steelhead and king salmon. Never had any problem whatsoever. Bulletproof sealed drag system, sturdy, lightweight and a self healing finish at the price of a spool. Lamson is changing the looks and closing these out. Scoop 'em up!
