Still not 100% decided on these By kyfirefly09 from indepencence, ky on 11/03/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These run narrow as other reviewers have noted - even the wide widths - but they work for me and I think they'll get better as time goes on. Plenty of room in the toe box, which I love. My big complaint is that there's not enough cushion at the heels and mine start to hurt after a while. I hope this is more due to my feet and the fact that I tend to walk heavily on my heels than it is to the boot. Will try some cushion insoles and see how it goes (and that's the only reason for 3 stars instead of 4). Otherwise, great boot. Rugged, easy to lace, great traction and warm.
Comfy right out of the box By kr from ca on 09/21/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Runs NARROW! Great boot - felt good right out of the box. I ordered the wide and it still felt narrow but ended up being fine. Wore for a 1 hour hike before tackling a 9 hour hike - great traction on granite, very sturdy.
not a good fit for backpackers By shipper shopper from Honolulu, HI on 09/18/2009 Cons: Not Comfortable, Too Stiff/Not Flexible Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small, Feels too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I must order all good outdoor products online (not available in my state) to find what fits. For these boots, ankle and arch support was remarkably weak for a backpacker-toted boot - but perhaps that's why I prefer all-leather boots anyhow. Arch support was relatively weak as well and toe-box was shallow, so they fit surprisingly small, and I intentionally up-sized a half-size to account for extra socks for long hikes. Too bad...

I wore these boots for the first time on a 15 mile hike in the Ozarks as my starter backpacking trip overnight. They were excellent! I didn't get a single blister. I was relieved about that and look forward to my next adventure in them.
Nice boot, but, tight in the toes By occational walker from Billerica, MA on 09/16/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too small, Feels too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The boot was too tight (with one size over) for comfortable walking. This was with a very thin sock.

By Adventure Girl from Little Rock, AR on 09/14/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have had to buy boots/shoes for trekking and hiking a size too big in the past to accomodate a wider foot. These boots come in a WIDE so I was able to buy my true size and they fit very comfortably and very well.
By Happy Hiker from Eagle Creek, OR on 09/09/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Cons: Needs more arch support Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational, Environmentalist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Just got back from a quick one-night nine-mile backpack outing in the Cascades, crossing creeks, dancing on boulders, going straight up and back down again in my new Vasques. Boots fit well, with no rub spots (did have to readjust the tongue on my right foot a bit). Would like a little more arch support for my flat feet, but still love the boot and the price.
