My Girlfriend likes me more now! By Wayner the Explainer from Binghamton, NY on 12/05/2007 Pros: Fit feel like slippers Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These boots were purchased blindly as a gift for my new sweetheart. She is an entry level hiker that was really interested in seeing more of the great outdoors. I've been summiting for years in the Whites, the Daks, and RMNP. I also own Vasque boots. All I had to go on for this purchase was a shoe size and my experience. We we're totally able to skip the "Break-in" mode on these boots. So far...she's given me nothing but praises on the fit, form, and function of the Micas. Currently we've been trekking through some significant snow and she has yet to get cold feet...so to speak.

I did get 2 minor blisters the first day but I have come to expect this with Vasque boots upon wearing them the first time.

By Allgaeu girl from Mount Pleasant SC on 11/05/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Hiked for 2 days in these boots and were surprisingly comfortable even though they were brand new. No rubbing or chaffing and didn't slip once on any rocks (didn't have any wet rocks, though). I would buy these boots again!
By DJ from Louisville, CO on 11/05/2007 Cons: Flimsy, Narrow toe box Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Returned these shoes because even though stated as wide width, they were too narrow for me. They also didn't feel supportive enough through the body of the shoe.
By doctorsirena from Minnesota on 10/20/2007 Pros: Attractive design, Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased these boots to wear on a trip to Whistler area, for hiking. It was mid-May, a transition time between winter activities and summer. Thus, the trails were snow-packed and we were hiking on 5+ feet of snow and wet ground in lower elevations. I also wore them downhill mountain biking (extreme!).
These boots were incredible! I didn’t really want the Gore-tex waterproof feature when I purchased, but on the snow-packed, wet trails it was great! My feet stayed completely dry whereas my companion had soaked feet and had to wear plastic bags in his boots on subsequent days. The boots are really comfortable – I wore them right out of the box with no break-in time. They have great grip on mountainous trails. They have quite stiff bottoms and sides, just what I wanted to have ankle support and firm footing on uneven trails.
I have rather narrow feet (but don’t generally buy narrow shoes) and I think the fit/design of these boots are perfect. I bought my normal “athletic shoe” size (which is ½ size larger than dress shoes).
The boots cleaned up well after a week of day-long snowy hikes in the mountains. They are also great looking – less clunky and more streamlined than a lot of other boots. I highly recommend. I helped chaperone the students all over Cooper's Rock, Blackwater Falls, Dolly Sods, Smoke Hole Caverns and Seneca Rocks in West Virginia. The boots kept us dry and comfortable for the three day trip. No miss-steps or tripping, twisted ankles or any other mishaps. I'm not disappointed in a thing.
Great boots - great price! By Angel from Waconia, MN on 09/28/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/ Recreational, Travel and hike with dogs Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I especially like that I could get them in wide size. They were comfortable from the first time I put them on. Look nice. Great for any kind of hiking. I loved my last boots so well I had them 5 years and was worried about getting a new pair but these are every bit as good if not better.
