Solid Boot
By Nick Dungeness from Oregon Cascades on 02/03/2009
Pros:
Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Water Resistant
Best Uses:
Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Sizing:
Feels true to size
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Logged 35 miles on these boots and I'm really happy with them. They're incredibly comfortable and required no break-in. They keep my feet dry and the lacing system is great- you can easily tighten or loosen individual areas to create a sort of custom fit. A half-size bigger than what I normally wear is a perfect fit.

Comments:
After agonizing between products I purchased these as my backcountry winter boot and having just completed my first trip with them I am very pleased. I used them with a pair of MSR snowshoes pulling a 150lb sled over steep terrain and approx. 3 feet of snow. The temperatures ranged from -20C to -35C(-4 to -31F)and they performed beautifully. They offered tremendous support and were incredibly warm and comfortable while I was moving, but upon arrival at camp I found that they cooled off rather quickly as soon as I started to slow down. Be advised that they are rigid boots and if you've never worn anything similar, the rigid style can resemble a ski boot. That being said, the only discomfort I noticed after 10 hours of strenuous use over two days was some discomfort across the front of my ankles where the laces leave the foot and come up the ankle. I suspect that this is due to my hiking with them right out of the box. As far as sizing goes, I use a three sock system in the backcountry so I ordered a half size larger and found them to be ideal. When using fewer socks I add a shim to the toebox and they adapt well. If you're not wearing a bunch of thick socks then purchase for size and they'll be fine. I also have relatively narrow feet and these boots were certainly snug enough.

Comments:
To put it simple, these boots are awesome!!! Excellent ankle support, Not a drop of water gets in these puppies. Great for off the trail exploring. The traction is good in mud, thin ice and snow. Works well with slip-on crampons. Holds up well with 30-50 pound packs. The laces stay tight after many miles of walking. Had no hot spots and the break-in time was hardly no time. Though, they are not made for everyday in the town walking. This is serious mountaineering boot.

Super Boot
By KevinVerified Reviewer from Ashville, N. Y. on 12/23/2008
Pros:
Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant
Cons:
Tread should be thicker
Best Uses:
Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions
Describe Yourself:
Casual/Recreational
Sizing:
Feels true to size
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
These boots are the best looking boots I've seen on the market. They fit perfect and are light on your feet. The only complaint I have is the tread on the heel area should be thicker. I have not worn them that much to tell if it will be a problem, but there is only about a 1/4" of material there. I would feel better if it was 1/2". Because these boots can't be resoled. I think I will have a boot in good shape on the top and no sole left on the bottom. If someone wants to comment on this, please do. Maybe Asolo can resole them?? Other than that I love the boots. I just don't plan on wearing them much on concrete or hard payment to make them last longer.

So far, so good
By Jim the RunnerVerified Reviewer from Fridley MN on 12/22/2008

Cons:
Too Stiff/Not Flexible
Best Uses:
Cold Weather, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking
Describe Yourself:

Comments:
Boot is very stiff but that is expected and does not seem to decrease comfort. Lacing is nice and you can fine-tune them for a perfect fit however it is a bit difficult dealing with the tongue and the speed laces at the top. Overall it is not a big deal. Worked well on vertical ice for an afternoon. Gonna have to wait and see how they handle a week long adventure. Should be good though

Comments:
I used these mainly for snowshoe ascents, for which they are perfect. Very stiff, but very comfortable. After beating the heck out of my feet with other boots, I thought I'd give them a try on fall hiking. They were great! A little slippery maybe, and some people might disdain the stiffness, but I love them. Bought a second pair for snowshoe only, as the soles do seem to wear fairly quick on dry ground. I'd read alot about these boots falling apart, but I've logged over 300 miles on the first pair with no problems at all, so it may have been earlier models. These are the only boot that doesn't give me blisters out of the box (which is good, because I don't think they actually "break in", they fit or they don't).
