Nice light boots but not waterproof. By Fishface from Canadian Rockies on 10/02/2008 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Light Cons: Not Durable/ Wears Easily, Not Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Light Loads Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Avid Fisherperson, Environmentalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Nice boots, but read whole review. V light and pretty comfortable. Perhaps a little narrow for my (pretty normal) feet. Did a couple of 20km hikes in them before uncovering a major problem. A significant hole in the gore-tex liner near the toes that let in water pretty quickly. Not sure if it was like that from the factory, of if the design allowed the membrane to wear through far to quickly. Either way, this issue made the boots useless (for a fisherperson and hiker that is always crossing shallow streams, or standing in shallow water) and so they were returned. I bought some Asolo Sasslong boots instead hoping for much improved durability and better waterproofness. I just did my first (15km) Rocky Mtn hike in them. Sadly, the rubber rand(?) started to come away on those by the end of the first hike. Might have to return those too. Am becoming concerned over Asolo's build quality. That's a shame as both sets of boots felt good with no break in needed. If they leak and/or fall apart, the other +ves don't really matter.
