Too Bad...Could Have Been A Great Bag
By BigSkyAdventuristVerified Reviewer from West Yellowstone, Montana on 07/28/2009
Pros:
Lightweight, Roomy, Stows Easily, Warm
Cons:
Stupid Plastic Strip
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I was very excited to recieve this bag until...I noticed a stupid plastic strip sewn inside the entire length of the zipper. This plastic strip is hard, noisy and very uncomfortable against the skin when sleeping, especially when used zipped open as a comforter. Too Bad...this could have been a fine bag for a great price. This design flaw is why it went to closeout.

Too Bad...great bag at a great price....had to return it. There is a STUPID hard plastic strip along the entire length of the zipper. It is noisy, stiff and very uncomfortable against the skin. What a shame....I loved the color, feel, quality and price. If it sounds too good to be true...it usually is. This is the reason the Wind River Bag went to closeout.

This is a great under-2-pound sleeping bag that will be ideal for desert backpacking in the fall and spring. The rectangular shape is comfortable, and the "long" version is great for those over 6 feet tall.

This bag is just so thin. I was cold when the temps were still in the 60's. Nice and light and packable.I thought about a liner to warm it up, but just bought a warmer bag instead.

I plan to use the bag for summer backing trips in the Rockies and for car-camping in Europe. It replaces a 27-year-old Marmot Grouse bag I bought in the early 1980's.

Have only used bag once & slept on top due to the temp. Bag appears to be well made, packs down small and is very roomy. Have ordered another for a b/p trip in Yosemite.

I have a good cold weather bag and was looking for something light that would compact down nicely and fit my 6 foot 2 inch frame. I have not tried this yet but it appears this meets my needs for warmer weather camping.

This is a great bag to have in your collection. I have a Marmot Helium, but wanted something for warmer summer nights. This bag is more of a zippable down blanket, since it is rectangular and fully unzippable with no hood. You can throw it over two people, or zip up the bottom part and stick your pad in it and use the top as a blanket ala Big Agnes. Or in zero degree camping throw it over my Helium. The Helium actually fits in it, just a little tight. It's light, less than 2 lbs!!!, stuffs as small as my Helium, and has that Marmot quality. I got the long, and at 6'3" I can barely pull it over my head, despite having no hood. It could be a little warmer, but hey, it's a 40 degree bag. I slept in my back yard in the pouring rain at 40 degrees, and stayed warm most of the time. I did wake up a little cold twice, but I was also on a terrible pad.

Light, comfortable, warmer than expected

Best Uses:

Comments:
Although I definitely would not use this bag in cold weather, it was plenty warm on a recent night in the Rockys with temps as low as 37 degrees F. It is also very light, easy to stow and looks great. I have the long and at 6 feet can still stretch out with the top closee over my head rather than under my chin for extra warmth, so having no hood was not a problem.

I got this bag because a mummy would be too constraining, I got 2 of the same so they could be zipped together, and they are exactly what I had in mind. They are wonderfully lightweight and compress to a very small size, too. The only confusion I had was finding the "exterior stow pocket" which is advertised, but seems not to exist. I also would have preferred a different color, but that's no big deal. Otherwise, a great value for the price!!
