However, their heel cups seem to be wide with the non-tie shoes. I wear a 9M and I was swimming - every step my heel pulled completely out of the shoe. It's a shame because it is a lovely shoe.

Not those. They don't fit well, feel large and somewhat stiff, the toe box is tight, and walking in them takes getting used to. Not the kind of shoe that fits right out of the box.
