By ToeJammer from Central New York on 02/15/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Asolo always makes a great shoe, and I always prefer to buy hiking wear that has Gore-tex. These shoes offer great stability but are rather stiff. That may be a downfall for some, but I would rather have a stiff, stable hiking shoe than some flimsy footwear that offers no stability. Definitely order your pair at least a half size or full size smaller than you normally would. Overall, a great buy!
By Kathy Kick-it from Oakland CA on 02/07/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Borrowed these shoes from a friend for a trip to Ecuador. Fantastic for hiking (even in mud), no break in time, excellent support. So, when I got home I decided I wanted a pair for myself and ordered the exact same size and color. Low and behold, the new ones are way too big! Very strange. Unfortunately they are sold out in the 1/2 size smaller, so I may keep them and put an insert in them, or may machine wash them and stick 'em in the dryer for a little bit, with the hope that they shrink a tad.
By JC from NH on 02/02/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: One thing I like in particular was the way the tongue was designed - it's "webbed" so that there is no way water can come in between the sides of the shoes and the tongue area, in case you slip and your foot goes in the water, and it keeps pebbles out.
By amy from boulder, co on 02/02/2009 Cons: Not Comfortable, Poor Cushioning Describe Yourself: Trail Jogger Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I was excited for my new Asolo's but the first pair was still too large length-wise even after ordering a smaller size, so I tried again with another 1/2 size smaller. The second pair felt right length-wise but my heel had no support and was just floating around in the back of the shoe. If I kept these shoes I'd probably have huge blisters on my heels so I'm afraid I have to give them a big thumbs down.
Great all the way around! By Working mom of 2! from Poconos, Pa on 02/01/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Everyday, Mixed Terrain Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love these shoes. I got them for work and just to wear in the winter. I wanted something waterproof with good traction and something comfortable. They are just like wearing sneakers.
Watch the sizing. I usually wear an 8 1/2. I got an 8 and probably could have taken a 7 1/2. Overall though. I love love love them!!!!
By The Naturalist from Darien, IL on 01/27/2009 Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use these shoes for work and the only negative thing i can say is they are very narrow and tight and do not work well in winter with thick socks. I will use them in summer and see how much better they are.
By magx2 from Washington DC on 01/26/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Stabilizes Foot Cons: Slippery on wet concrete Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Everyday, Mixed Terrain Describe Yourself: Animal keeper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These run quite large. I put gel insoles in and there is still a little extra room (for heavy socks!)
By char from FL on 01/20/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete, Recreational Walker/Hiker, Trail Jogger Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these for my daughter. She wanted some hiking shoes instead of high top boots. She took a chance and backpacked 20 miles of very hilly terrain in 2 days her first time wearing them and did not get any blisters or sore feet. She said they were great. She usually wears a 10.5 or 11, so I bought her the 10 as recommended and they are a perfect fit.
Nice-looking, good traction By Kt hearts shoes from Evergreen, CO on 01/20/2009 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent Cons: No arch support, Not flexible Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker, Trail Jogger Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These shoes are very nice, but do need some break-in time. In my experience, though, that is usually what happens with a high-quality long-lasting hiking shoe. You invest a little time to break it in, and it quickly becomes a favorite. I love the breathable Goretex and vibram sole. Great traction. The only problem is no arch support, but I added an insole and the shoe is great.
By WindWhisper from Cooperstown,NY on 01/13/2009 Pros: Goretex, Heel finger tab, Rubber bumper at toes Cons: Poor arch support, Poor Cushioning Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: With the rubber toe and heel tab, I thought it might be like the Keene brand shoe. Alas! My heel kept slipping out, and my toes couldn't spread. I tried a bigger size with orthotic, but it didn't help
