By ministercreek from Southeast Ohio camping in the Wayne N.F. on 02/13/2009 Pros: Adjustable Hood, Comfortable, Pleasing colour, Warm, Water Resistant, Wide Cut in Shoulders Cons: Bit too short in long, Heavy, Zipper Snags Easily Best Uses: Car Camping, Cold Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I needed a affordable cold weather mummy bag and the ALPS Alpine Lake -20 Degree model was just the ticket for a warm night's sleep. I purchased mine while it was reduced in price, from the already low prices Sierra Trading Post is known for. Many thanks Keith Richards!I got to put this bag to good use since I first purchased it. Kept me warm in night time temps here in southeast Ohio that hovered around the 10 degrees mark. I was not cold save it were for my feet. The long size is a tad too short for a tall guy like me, being 6'1". My feet push against the bottom of the bag, compressing the insulation. Hence my feet get cold as the result. Other than that the bag is just fine. The hood adjust very well. Nice and wide in the shoulders. Never have to wake up to cramped shoulders unlike most other mummy bags. Overall a good deal!
By mudbug from WI on 02/03/2009 Pros: Adjustable Hood, Warm Best Uses: Car Camping, Cold Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Nice bag for the money. A thick mummy bag with lots of synthetic insulation. The insulation does not compress, so this bag would not work for backpacking. Also it will need the largest compression sack available. A previous reviewer mentioned zipper defect, time will tell.
By J John casual camper from New Jersey on 01/20/2009 Pros: Adjustable Hood, Warm, Water Resistant Cons: Compression Sack Needed, Heavy, Zipper Snags Easily Best Uses: 3 Season Camping, Cold Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This bag will keep you warm, it is heavy for long packpacking trips, it needs a compression sack, and go slowly with zipper and you will do fine.I would recommend it to others if you use it on short packing trips.
By bargain hunter from Folsom, CA on 01/11/2009 Cons: Compression Sack Needed, Heavy Best Uses: Car Camping, Cold Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I haven't spent a night in it yet but I suspect some limitations. First, it is so bulky and heavy I can't imagine carrying it far from the car without a sled or a yak! Second, it's bulk limits the ability to cinch the collar and hood enough to prevent air escape (this is why I doubt it's -20 rating). I am barely able to get it into a 10" x 24" compression sack. That said, it's perfect for car-camping on a tight budget!

Seems to be well constructed. Purchased as a gift for my future son in law to keep warm while hunting from his truck.
By Jonny Money from Jackson Hole on 01/04/2009 Pros: Great Zipper System, Stows Easily, Warm Best Uses: 3 Season Camping, Car Camping, Cold Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great value for the product we received. I ordered five of these for my growing boys so I could expose them to the concept of Winter Camping. We all stayed warm (too warm) on a New Years Camp out in the Tetons Happy 2009 and thank you Sierra!!!. Obviously this bag is on the heavy side, however; if you are not packing it too far, its AWESOME!
By Love the outdoors !! from Wisconsin on 01/04/2009 Pros: Adjustable Hood, Great Zipper System, Stows Easily, Warm Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Purchased for my son, the bag is a little heavy for long expansive backpacking, however it is awsome for cold weather winter camping. This bag would not be used for long summer trips anyway, so the weight is not really an issue for us. It is awsome for what it is made to do, keep you warm and comfortable in very cold weather!!
