A good advantage is the option to use the smaller day pack detached from the main unit for sightseeing activities. Also, the backpack meets airline carry-on size restrictions.
High Sierra Wheeled Backpack by High [...] By Megan from Pittsburgh, PA on 07/15/2009 Pros: Good Capacity, High Quality Describe Yourself: Student Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My daughter is using this to go to Nicaragua on a mission trip, it is the exact size we needed and at about 1/3 the price we saw this back pack at in other stores. The only issue we have had is that it is difficult to zip the day back pack back on once you get started it is fine, it is the getting started that is cumbersome

will be great for a carry-on By dancingonair from San Jose, CA on 06/01/2009 Pros: Easy To Carry, Flexible system, Good Capacity Cons: Not easy to access items Best Uses: Family Trips, Long Vacations, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Comfort-Oriented, Modern, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought two of these for a trip to Europe, with the idea that when we're pulling our regular rolling suitcases, we could wear these on our backs. In the airport, once we've checked the big suitcases, we can then roll these around. I liked the idea of another reviewer of zipping off the daypack and having that at my feet on the plane. I packed mine and wore it around the house a bit. The backpack was pretty comfortable when filled to about 15 pounds, and it held 2 pairs of shoes, 3 pants/skirts, 2 shirts, a dress & toiletries. The zip-off daypack I packed to about 7 pounds with a water bottle, book, camera, mp3 player, wallet and sweater. Attaching the zipoff daybag to the backpack for a total of 22 pounds made it pretty uncomfortable to carry around much on my back (I'm a lightweight!). Fortunately the daypack has a strap across its back so it can slip over the handle of my big rolling suitcase on the way to hotel. I do wish the zipper on the daypack opened up more for easier access to its contents. I'm also a little worried about the zipper that attaches the dayback to the backpack--it doesn't seem super heavy duty, so we'll see how that holds up.
By Furious Five from Tibet on 04/28/2009 Pros: Good Capacity, High Quality Describe Yourself: Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought one for every child. Now each of our children has their own luggage for trips and they love it.
By mike from Boomer Sooner on 04/11/2009 Pros: Easy To Access Items, Easy To Carry, Easy To Identify, Good Capacity, High Quality Best Uses: Family Trips, Long Vacations, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Classic Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought this pack as a carry on for a trip to Aruba. It worked perfectly and the zip off day pack was a handy feature when going to the pool or the beach. Would have rated it higher but I havent used it except for that one trip.
