This one appears to be contructed from heavier grade nylon than the one's I've used in the past. The zipper connection between the main bag and the day pack is a little hard to use (I've read that others have also experienced this) but I think that, with a little patience, this will become easier in time. Good length to the handle when extended, for me (I'm 5'11"). Should be a great carry-on for short or long trips. The daypack is ideal when boarding smaller planes where you have to gate check your carry-on because it's small enough to fit into the smaller overhead compartments or under your seat enabling you to have your personal items/valuables with you on the flight. The backpack feature is great when you are dragging other luggage, golf bags or other equipment, or when it's just not practical to continue to use the wheels.

By Mandina from Humboldt Co., CA on 03/07/2009 Pros: Easy To Access Items, Easy To Carry, Easy To Identify, Good Capacity, High Quality Best Uses: Family Trips, Long Vacations, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Comfort-Oriented, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've had this for about a year now and I love it! It's the perfect size for a weekend trip. On a longer trip, it's my carry on. I can quickly separate the little back pack. I put the larger part in the overhead compartment, and put the little one under my seat, with reading material and items I want handy on the flight. And with practice, I can now very quickly zip it back together when it's time to get off the plane.
There are several handy pockets. It's nice to have the backpack also in case I go on an unexpected hike. It's been on 6 flights and 8 car trips, and I haven't had any problem with it's quality.
By Wanderlust from Jacksonville, FL on 03/05/2009 Pros: Easy To Access Items, Easy To Carry, Good Capacity, High Quality Describe Yourself: Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I can find things in this more easily than in the sports bag I used to carry. There are times when I use it as a backpack and times when I roll it like a suitcase. A good combination of features.
This 3 in 1 Backpack Fits All Our Needs By mimi42 from Orange County, CA on 03/05/2009 Pros: Easy To Access Items, Easy To Carry, Easy To Identify, Good Capacity, High Quality Best Uses: Family Trips, Long Vacations Describe Yourself: Comfort-Oriented Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We recently returned from a trip to New Zealand/Australia and this backpack was the best. My husband wore the whole backpack while rolling around our luggage at the airport. Once we checked in the luggage, this backpack became our rolling carryon. When we were at the hotels and before venturing out, he'd seperate (unzip) the small pack from the big pack and wore it as our daypack.

By dexldex from Germany on 03/03/2009 Pros: Easy To Access Items, Easy To Carry, Easy To Identify, Good Capacity, Great for traveling light, High Quality Best Uses: Traveling light, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Classic, Comfort-Oriented, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We bought two of these in order to travel without lugging large suitcases. Living in Europe, and using low cost airlines with their rigid bag restrictions, as well as extensive travel by train were our inspiration.
We just got back from testing them on a 5 day trip from Germany to England. These bags passed with flying colors. With careful packing, you can get quite a bit of stuff in them. The cinch down straps really help to compact and hold everything in tight. My husband carried his entire bag with the back pack straps and said it was much more comfy than he expected it would be. You wouldn't want to hike for miles, but was very adequate for the distance he carried it. I rolled mine and had no trouble whether on smooth pavement or brick paving.
The zip off smaller backpack is a stroke of genius. I used it as my carry-on, while checking the larger piece for our flight--on other airlines, I could have carried on both, making it even more convenient. But it was very slick, after retrieving the larger piece from baggage claim, to quickly zip the two pieces back together and head off for the train with just one compact piece of luggage to worry about. It is just the right size to roll between the aisles of most trains.
Hopefully, the luggage will stand up to a lot of use. Obviously we have not had it long, but it appears sturdy. We did have one zipper problem and exchanged that bag for a new one which worked perfectly.
