Comments: Wasn't sure what to expect after seeing mixed reviews. Took this on an overnight canoe trip on the 11 Point River in Missouri. HUGE bag held everything needed for an overnight; bag, tent, pad, boots and clothes were no match for this 8,000+ cu inch beast. Roll top and side straps are guaranteed to keep gear bone dry in nearly any situation. We kept the canoes upright throughout, but I wasn't at all concerned about this bag hitting the water. I can see how the straps could eventually tear from the bag but with a little TLC and common sense, that shouldn't be an issue. I don't expect to carry this for any kind of distance though, outside of the occasional short run portage.

Tears Easily, Weak Seams

Comments: Bag is BIG and waterproof, but the straps tore out on my first multi-day raft trip just from carrying it from boat to campsite for five days. It might be waterproof, but what's the point in having straps if they're going to fail immediately.

Comments: This bag is great. I am able to put lots of gear on trailer with my fourwheelers or in the trailer with my boat. I am able to keep my gear dry when they are out in the elements.

Comments: If I'd read the description more closely I might have been prepared for how large this thing is - should hold a week's worth of gear easily. I wouldn't trust the strap attachments for long with a heavy load, though.

I was absolutely astounded when I discovered that I could get a brand-name (it's Seattle Sports, c'mon now!) dry bag of this size for under 50-bucks. The price was so good that I ordered several, half-expecting them to be of marginal quality. Boy, was I surprised.
Besides the bag being large enough to pack enough gear for several days on the water, all the seams are well sewed and welded. Even fully packed, there is sufficient room to roll the top tightly for a good seal.
My only complaint is the backpack straps. You'd have to be an idiot to load the the bag with more than 80 lbs. of gear and try to carry it on your back, but if you do expect the straps to tear from the bag. Use a bit of common sense and carry the bag by hand if it's heavily loaded to avoid this; but I could see it being an issue for newbs.
Great gear for a good price!

Comments: Actually we bought three of them for a canoe trip, it's big enough to put all clothes and sleeping bag in. But one bag got a hole at the bottom after 3-day paddling and camping, which was a little bit frustrating.

Pros:
Easy To Carry, Good Capacity, Inexpensive, Tight Closure
Cons:
Flimsy harness attachment
Best Uses:
Bulky lightweight gear, No long portages, Paddling
Describe Yourself:
Avid backcountry tourer
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments: Bought two packs before extended BWCA trip involving long portages. Used mostly for light and bulky gear (sleeping bags, clothing, tent). Despite limited load, the shoulder harnesses almost ripped out of the bag and are currently hanging on by a thread. The bag as such is good, roomy and waterproof but should not be relied on for portaging gear. Images shared by: Christian the Belgian
