High Volume Waterproof Bag By GWD from Manitou Springs, CO on 07/07/2009 Pros: Good Capacity, Waterproof Describe Yourself: Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: High volume bag is best for low weight/high volume items. Shoulder straps look inadequate for filled bag with high weight. Worked OK for fly-in fishing camp in British Columbia. Needs more reinforcing on strap attachments for heavy loads.
By Palmtree from Warrensburg, MO on 07/01/2009 Pros: Good Capacity, Strong Material, Tight Closure, Waterproof Describe Yourself: Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This bag works great for canoe trips. Keeps stuff dry and holds quite a bit of gear and clothes or whatever you need. The price was fantastic.
By Don from Louisville, KY on 06/25/2009 Pros: Easy To Carry, Good Capacity, Strong Material, Tight Closure, Waterproof Describe Yourself: Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Product worked like a charm and the price I paid for it on STP was top notch. I recently took the family on a three day overnight raft trip. It rained for three consecutive days. The bag stored 2 sleeping bags, a full large compression bag full of clothing, and two air mattresses. Stay dry the entire time. The size of the bag is huge, so if not packing for a long trip, may look into getting a smaller size.
Would recommend to canoers By Canoe Guru 88 from Cornwall, PEI on 06/25/2009 Pros: Good Capacity, Strong Material, Waterproof Describe Yourself: Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This item is a must have in my opinion for multiple day canoe trips. It holds a substantial amount of stuff including a *huge* mummy bag I purchased from here as well. My friends and I canoe the Miramachi and deal with some hefty rapids to be had in a canoe. This product keeps it dry. I have not fully tested the waterproof ability of it but I'm confident it would've performed well. I used a strip of duct tape over the packing hole to provide additional water protection.
Nice bag, but doesn't take abuse well. By woodsmanrich from Northeastern, PA on 06/20/2009 Cons: Tears Easily, Weak Straps Describe Yourself: Professional Guide Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I run a wilderness trip program at a summer camp and have used these bags on our canoe trips. The size is very nice, but it lest you very easily overload the bag. Because the straps are not strong they very easily rip out when you overload the bag. If you only use the bags for lightweight bulky items like sleeping bags they are nice, but if you put tents or heavy gear in them the straps quickly break.
The bags do seem to be reasonably watertight if you secure them right.
Nice concept, poor design By Ras Larry from Minneapolis, mn on 06/07/2009 Pros: Good Capacity, Waterproof Cons: Weak Seams, Weak strap suspension Best Uses: Paddling, Sailing Describe Yourself: Recreational Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I used this for a one week canoe trip in which we were portaging 10-20 times per day with heavy packs. The bag itself seems sturdy enough, so it is a good dry bag. However, the shoulder straps are weak and uncomfortable, even with minimal weight. If you plan on hauling a bag around outside the boat this is not the dry bag for you. As soon as I was able to cut down from 5 to 4 bags this was the one to get cut.
Dry Bag Lives Up to Its Name By Rita the Paddler from South Pasadena, CA on 05/28/2009 Pros: Easy To Carry, Good Capacity, Strong Material, Waterproof Best Uses: Paddling, Sailing Describe Yourself: Beginner Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bag is huge, so holds a lot of gear. A big plus is that it is carried like a backpack, leaving hands free. Not for people under around 5 feet since so big. Very sturdy. Used it for canoeing in calm waters with lots of water fights. Everything stayed dry.
By Pete from Pulaski, MS on 05/27/2009 Describe Yourself: Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: One pack had a missing buckle. Sierra T.P. was unable to obtain a replacement buckle and had to send me another pack.
By Pick Up Man from Appalachian Mountains on 05/26/2009 Pros: Easy To Carry, Good Capacity Best Uses: Backpacking, Outdoor Living, Paddling Describe Yourself: Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'll be living out of a pick up truck this summer and wouldn't be caught without this bag! It's large enough to handle all of my belongings while also being very portable. Easy to tie down in the truck bed. My only complaint is that when it's not filled enough, it's a lot more awkward to handle.
