Ready to go right out of the box By Joshua the artist from St. Paul MN on 10/28/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a full time artist and parent - so i am either hiking with my 30 pound kid in the backpack or with about 20 pounds of easel and other gear - and once i am set up to work - i am usually standing for several hours. I found these boots to be comfortable and supportive right out of the box. The boots were equally comfortable on a cement bridge deck as they were scrambling up and down wet and loose bluffs.
excelent boot when on sale By cwhandy from southern new Jersey on 10/28/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Gore tex seems to be warm, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: A versetile boot can eve, Casual wear too, Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Carpentersawmillconst, Casual/Recreational, Construction worker prof, Environmentalist Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered a size ten but recieved a size nine and a half. good thing because the 91/2 fit perfect. if it was not a mistake then the people at Sierra must have known they run larger.
I find that the boots made in Italy and Romainia are exceptional in this sector. this is my 5th pair of this type and i am still using the first pair on really dirty jobs. they last. and i can assure you that I put them through rigorous workouts in all climates. I have just recieved these exact boots and am using them lighly for now untill my other pairs wear out completely. But they are of the same construction so i dont expect any problems in the long run. we will see in about 4 years where they stand. For really tough boots they are excellent for most jobs. If you need even tougher go with a mountain or rough terrain boot which i also use in the same makes as in Asolo and Scarpa.

Wait till a good sale and don't think twice. The sole is narrow. Size up and wide as needed. I went 10.5W and I wear 10D in New Balance.
Couldn't of asked for a better product! By B Shizz from Virginia on 10/27/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Exactly what I was looking for. I have rotated wearing a pair of Chaco Beckwith (also bought from Sierra Trading Post at an amazing price) and Asolo Fugitive on a daily basis for almost five years now. After spending last year in fairly rugged parts of Africa, I belive my Fugitives have seen thier last hike, and I needed a replacement that would go the distance. The Asolo Sasslong was all of the above. These are tough boots, and will keep moving regardless the terrain. Could not have asked for more from either Sierra Trading Post or Asolo.

Just fine during break in By CT E. from CT on 10/23/2009 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: They are pretty stiff and it feels like the arch will remain rigid. Not a problem. I have been testing them with a heavy (60lb) pack before heading out to the wilds and there are no problems or discomforts.

By KG from Montana on 10/20/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Hunter Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great out of the box feel. I've worn them on 4 or 5 short hikes so far with so much as a hotspot. They do squeak in the bottom of the tongue gusset but I expect that to go away as soon as I oil them.
1st hiking boots ive owned By Ed from Boston, MA on 10/14/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm Cons: Too Stiff/Not Flexible Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use these boots mainly for work, i am a carpenter in the northeast. They have been great so far, took a few days to get use to as i have always worn light flexible boots that strap tight to my ankles. So not as much ankle support as im use to, but all in all it is a very well built durable boot.
