By Hampeter from Denmark on 07/04/2009 Pros: Light, Quality, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Cons: Long Break-in, Narrow, Not Comfortable, Too Stiff/Not Flexible Best Uses: Day Hiking, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Environmentalist Sizing: Feels full size too small, Feels too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Well, well. Here we are with a boot made for the Italian trekkers girlfeet! I took these boots to the local shoeshop for them to block them out. He looked surprised when he saw a girls boot sold as a boys boot. I am going there after writing this review to see if he succeeded in making them wider.
But I think I will return them anyway, because they also look a little silly, beeing that narrow.
I bought the M size, by the way.
By JP from Suwanee, GA on 07/03/2009 Pros: Great Traction, Water Resistant Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Just returned from Philmont. These boots held up great while hiking 70 miles. Including on day of hiking 2.5 miles through 4 inches of thick mud as well as climbing over the boulders on the Tooth of Time. Very comfortable. No sore feet or blisters.
By SummitSeeker from Richboro, PA on 06/23/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are sturdy, high quality backpacking boots. So far just did some short conditioning day hikes in prep for a 7-day Yosemite Backpacking trip next month. But so far these provide good support and I haven't noticed any blister producing hot spots...yet. Be aware the last is based on a narrower foot though--which is fine for me, but you may need a wide. Great value for the price. Similar boots (different brands) at two local outfitters cost nearly 50% more.
By Crazy 4 Hiking from Phoenix,AZ / Fort Collins, CO on 06/23/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small, Feels too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great boots. They are (like everyone else describes) a bit narrow and short. I always wore 10.5 in the last 5 Asolo boots/shoes I have worn. I had to send them back and go up a half size and get a "wide". These boots are tough. Not designed for walking in the park, but rather for tough, irregular rocky ground or backpacking. Perfect for the Rockies and scrambling. The rand (rubber up and around the outside of the boot) should help make them last longer than my all leather Asolo's that these are replacing after 6-8 years of abuse and a midnight marmot attack.
best all round boots ever! By kenny the pig from santa fe NM on 06/19/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wear these boots year round, both to work, as well as outdoors, hiking, etc.
Granted I live in New Mexico at 7200 feet, but
these are so comfortable, I choose them even in summer as my daily wear.
By D.R. from Elmira, NY on 06/10/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Water Resistant Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Took them out of the box to see if they needed breaking in. They are a great boot and I wore them the next day and hiked the gorge in Watkins Glen. I will be hiking 14ers in Colorado next month and don't expect any foot trouble.
By hunter from Kansas City, MO on 06/10/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm Cons: Heavy, Long Break-in Best Uses: Cold Weather, Heavy Loads Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Great Mountainering-type boot but way too heavy and stiff for my taste. Similiar to a cement block tied to each foot. For some reason I find some Gore tex boots to be really hot on my feet while others are not. These made my feet feel like they were inside an oven after I had them on for a few minutes.
By Rockcliff Trucking from Lisbon, NH on 06/09/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Everyday, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use this boot for everyday wear. I do dump truck work and need a sturdy, comfortable boot to drive all day long, climb up on body of truck and walk around construction sites. This boot does it all and keeps your feet dry while power washing equipment.
