Very nice reel, it balances nicely with the March Brown 6wt rod I purchased. Easily converts from righthand retrive to lefthand retrive. Seems to be well made.

Don't buy smaller sizes (5/6wt. & below)
By dstiger from Charlotte, NC on 03/24/2008
Pros:
Larger sizes are ok
Cons:
Poor Construction
Best Uses:
Fly Fishing
Describe Yourself:
Avid Fisher
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I purchased the 6/7wt reel and it works fairly well -- no problems. At the price, If thought it was a bargain, so I purchased a 4/5wt reel. I immediately noticed a fairly wide gap between the spool and reel of the 4/5wt. Other than a little extra "giggling" I didn't think it would be a problem. However, when stripping 4wt line for a cast, the line will often get caught in the gap or pull completely through the reel. You then have to remove the spool and rethread the flyline through the proper position on the reel, which is very difficult if you have just hooked a fish. I may have simply purchased a defective reel, but I don't reccomend taking the chance. Don't purchase the smaller reels. The fly line is smaller, which makes the gap more of a problem. My 6/7wt reel does have a little gap, but not enough to affect the reel's performance even when using 6wt line.

Conversion instructions does not show on the instruction literature. At the back of the spool, unscrew the cover plate, pop the bearings out, reverse the bearing position, slide it back in, and screw the cover plate back on. Spool is now converted to left hand retrieve.
